Love it
Has the feel good factor. Being born in the late forties myself I can relate to the storylines and the music. Always leaves me in tears . 'In a good way'

Cannot stand that fake posh accent of Barbaras. Not very good actress.

Love Call The Midwife
Call The Midwife I think it is one of the best series we have on t.v. I hope the writers keep writing and that we have more series after this one. The actors are great as are the story lines. Well Done everyone .x.

Boring
Sorry I can't agree, Call The Midwife may well be based on a time in the 50s when I was in my early teens but it's portrayed like the many other soap that we have already clogging our airwaves, then perhaps the series of Garrow's Law which was replaced by it is more for the more intellectual and appreciative audience like myself....but then soaps seem to be the British way of life now..

Crisps
They definitely had them in the late 50s ( my dad used to bring them home from the pub for us,also Salt and Vinegar !!) .I think that this series is in the 60s anyway?

Disgusted
Was so looking forward to this new series only to be let down by the disgusting language used in some of the scenes. Even more so when some involved a young child. How do the scriptwriters/producers get away with it in pre watershed programmes

"programme"
Please please please, it's programme not program. Let's not slip into lazy American punctuation. Oh yes, great series.

Brilliant as always, all the cast performing to their absolute best especially the perfectly cast Miranda Hart

why no repeats?
I love Call the Midwife, but my only complaint is that it isn't repeated at all, when other programmes get shown again and again. I'm not always able to record the programme so it would be great if it could be repeated either singly, during the same week, or as a whole series a month or so later.

Love it
I love this series. Good writing, well acted, attention to the detail of the period. Having lived through this time I well remember GPs smoking and also pregnant women in the ante natal clinics. The stories never fail to bring a lump to my throat and the music chosen is perfect. Well done to all concerned.

Great series
So upset that it was the last episode last week. Every week I looked forward to it, television at its best. Makes a nice change to feel a warm glow at the end of a programme. All the characters were brilliant, stop knocking Miranda Hart, I think she was very good.

Ante-Natal Clinic
We used to have to sit on backless benches heavily pregnant and shift along as each was called in turn. Yes we had to pull down our tights/stockings as there was no facility to get prepared as nowadays. There was no privacy whatsoever and I distinctly remember the cigarette smoke too!

Heidi Thomas brill writer
I thought I'd misseda Jenny Worth book, but this series melds so well with her work she really understood her view point. Do so hope there will be a further series. So very enjoyable.

Storyline
The dead baby was placed on the mothers lap by the nun. This is a new concept. At that time the child would have been taken away. Also am I the only one who finds Miranda Hart a little wooden.

I loved it too
I watched every single episode and at times was moved to tears. my first three children were born in the sixties and i remember ashtrays being passed round at the ante natal clinic! My youngest wwas born in the eighties when things were different. I remember every single midwife and always will. Some of the scenes moved me to tears, well done to to everyone concerned. I loved Miranda as "Chummy",brilliant casting. Roll on the next series. I intend to read the books too.

No more shallow comments, please
Viewers who cannot stomach the realities portrayed should return to their cotton wool cacoons and only watch the Disney Channel. They should also never contemplate a family of their own without a blindfold, ear plugs,a clothes peg for their nose and a bucket as a permanent companion. As for the "hate Miranda" squad, no doubt they would relish the opportunity to rise from their armchairs and use their consummate skills to audition for the part, and oust the lady in question by means of superior skill. I, for one, will look forward to the next series with the present cast.

Against the grain
Love it, but sometimes have to change channels for a minute or so to avoid the untra-sad! Reminds me of being a kid.

Oh no not her again
Why is it that every time I tune in to the BBC that awful Miranda Hart is on!! Call the Midwife is not a bad drama but could be much improved without Hart.

Please not on sunday evening
After our sunday meal around 8.00pm we like to watch a bit of telly. Imagine the horror, after consuming red meat a so-called drama about childbirth. Please not on a sunday evening....better for womens afternoon t.v. or not at all.

Yuck! Yuck!
More purile, pathetic TV to avoid, and that's just Miranda ( I am so over rated) Hart :)Can the BBC please produce some watchable Television programmes again? Please? This programme is dire, depressing, stomach churning and pretty awful. Miranda Hart is a crap comedian and proof here she isn't a good actor either. Avidly avoiding the BBC more and more these days, Still have to pay the bloody TV licence!
