Sir Richard & Lovinia
Could someone tell me why Sir Richard was threatening Lovinia and what his motive was to bring her to the scene where she was introduced to Mary ??

Downton
I see some stereo - typical sides of downton, but compared to the other crap on, this series is quite interesting. The plots and story-lines keep every pair of eyes glued to the screen. A few "out of time" mistakes, but ohterwise, an amusing and addictive series. I would reccommmend it at least xx

Mrs Bates Murder theory
O'Brien was aware that Mrs. Bates knew of the dreaded secret and that she planned to divulge it to the public, although I don't think she knew that Sir Richard Carlisle had put a gag on her. O'Brien had changed her attitude towards Lady Cora after the flu epidemic and had become quite protective. Thus, I suspect O'Brien decided it was necessary to silence Mrs. Bates to protect the family. Further, I predict that O'Brien will confess, possibly to Lady Cora, out of guilt for Mr. Bates taking the wrap, sometime in the third series.

Best TV of 2011
Once again, Britain's penchant for all things period drama is reflected in our Top TV. Viewers are still tuning in droves to catch the latest scandal and drama at Downton, despite the show being in its second series.

Great Period Drama
Those who don't enjoy this drama need to go take a hike! A programme is never going to fulfil everyone's taste's so if you don't like period dramas don't watch it. I for one love the series. Yes there are some inaccuracies and some of the acting is not the best but on the whole I love the storyline, the romance, the problems and some of the acting is good! So I for one can't wait for series 3. Well done ITV!

fantastic show
although they do make some misstakes, which bring it down a bit, and well, the acting could be better, as could the casting, the timing is well out as well, oh look, its crap.

Eastenders in frocks...
This show is the worst. The men in the family leave the house every time it's on, please get rid of it. Yours sincerely, Men of Britain.

Army hospital bed counterpanes
When the abbey was transformed into a hospital for the war injured,I noticed that the blue and white patterned counterpanes, used on the beds bore a striking resemblance to that of the ones us new entrants were issued with when we joined the Royal Navy in the 1960's.The following episode revealed a more detailed view of the counterpane and there in full view in the centre of the pattern was a large Royal Navy anchor.Did any other ex RN notice this in the episode. Did the production team aquire the counterpanes as a job lot from the MOD?.

What a show!
Downton Abbey is an absolutely amazing series! This is coming from a teenager's perspective, so I think it's great that the series appeals to people of all ages - I have a large number of friends who also watch the show, as well as older members of my family! For those that critisise it, why??! The programme was created and aired to interest and appeal to those who want to watch it - if you don't like it, then don't watch it! Other people, such as myself, can also see the faults in it, but who cares??! The point is that it is superb piece of drama, and other than minor faults, a very convincing one too! I think it is right that the series receives the credit and appreciation that it does, and that those who critisise it should find something better to do with their time.

Downton Abbey
We used to have more like this, and dare I say better. Upstairs Downstairs was a real classic, try to get into it you youngsters if you havenīt seen that .There is a niche for historical dramas. If you donīt like it, donīt watch it but learn how to spell GREAT or you give your literacy level away!!!

It really is dreary! Badly acted and badly directed. Just a poor Soap set in "posh" surroundings.

ELECTRIC APPEARANCE
Am I mistaken or was the electric only in the main rooms of Downton, when was it put in the bedrooms or servant quarters or was this just added for the use of electric hair straightners this week?
Confused! 9:17pm Tue 4 Oct

Horrorshow
Cliches, platitudes, wooden acting - and it's all been done a million times before (and better). I am perturbed about the number of people watching this. How amusing that the person who flamed people who are critical towards this drivel as 'hard of thinking' can't even spell the word 'great' correctly. I rest my case.

unrealistic
How come they are having to share the dining room and other rooms with soldiers? have you seen the size of the house!!!!

A spiritual, emotional cancer...
That ... must be evacuated like trapped wind, transformed and metamorphosed (and adorned with awards). But the Downturnish are an uncomfortably living testament to the benefit, if not the pleasure, of repression.

what a top show
the only people who find this uninteresting is the hard of thinking, the rest of us think it is grate.

Fantastic!
I absolutly love this series. I just wish there were more like it, instead of the current 'reality' shows which are tired celebs desperatly trying to grasp a little 'fame' and consequently creating programmes of no context which are tediously boring! Well done ITV.keep up the good work

Loved the programme but I got really fed up with the number of advert breaks, have vowed not to buy anything advertised during programme on principal.

Drivel
Oh here we go again... patronising drivel, stereotypical class-ridden caricatures, and acting by numbers... still, I suppose that a certain member of the cast has to work hard to pay the legal fees for that alleged (!) super-injunction... ;-)

loved it!
really a TV gem, can't wait for series 2. as far as a previous comment expressing disappointment that this show isn't a "drama of manners" don't we get enough of that with the endless J austin adaptations.
ethan 7:38pm Sat 30 Apr

Not what I expected
Reading the reports I had expected a 'drama of manners' so to speak. However there were so many modernisms, not only in language but also in manners and behaviour, that I was not able to enjoy it as any more than a glorified soap. No delicately observed history or depth of atmosphere here. Such a pity.
