Modern Classic OK, it misses contemporary CGI (things were tougher in those days), but its not only men v shark. Its a far more subtle psychological tussle between opinions, bigotry, fears and strength against the hidden adversary.
And of course, as nearly all American films do, ends up a victory of those that spurn their fears and vanquish the evil. B0f12:13am Sat 21 Jan
Scary is relative To all those who are saying it isn't scary - well, scary is both relative and subjective. I saw Jaws at the cinema with my Dad when I was thirteen and can assure you I bricked myself on many occasions during the film, especially where the head falls out of the bottom of the boat.

THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE I first saw Jaws in the cinema when it was a new release. It thrilled me then and continues to do so now. I watch it regularly and can probably recite the whole of the dialogue. (No stranger than knowing the words to a favourite song)

Brilliant Okay, so it's not exactly scary. But its still fantastic. It will still suceed in having you at the very edge of your seat. It has stood the test of time really very well. it isn't supposed to be scarey. its a thriller. it is meant to keep you on the edge of your seat. which it does beautifully. spielberg is undeniably a bit of a cinema genius.
i would rate this film in the top ten for me (and i've seen a LOT of films;)
