FOR ME, THE BEST TIME OF EVERYDAY!!!!! The acting is excellent, the costumes are beautiful, there is no violence, sex, special effects, etc. Is one of those rare shows that leaves you feeling good afterwards. I have a question though, was there an episode that shows when and how it was that Minnie was employed by Dorcas??? On the last one of Season 1 Zillah dies and then on the first episode of the next season Minnie is just there. romantic7:58am Wed 20 Jul
My favourite TV Series ever !!! Congratulations for the outsdanding work !!! Lucia S.10:59pm Mon 28 Mar

good show hope they do a seccond series. get real5:00pm Mon 14 Feb
just what i wanted i'm so disappointed that it's finished. I looked forward to a little escapism on a sunday evening before the mundanity of the week started again. It's one of the few things on now that isn't reality tv (or as I like to call it, brain rot), vicious murders, or flashing more nipples than you'd see in an amsterdam brothel. I have breasts of my own, and seemingly to the surprise of many tv execs when it comes to dramas, I sometimes just don't feel like seeing anyone else's. biscuit baroness11:29pm Sun 13 Feb
Pleasant - very I admit to liking this as I come from a long-lived rural family and these are the grandparents of my(our) time perhaps played a little nicer. But there were some people who believed they were like this. Then came war - sorry. And our cynicism was born. Old sod9:30pm Sun 13 Feb
tired series tired, slushy & characters make me wince hipp5:16pm Sun 13 Feb
Come off it people I completely understand the comments about feelgood, gentle, easy sunday viewing but come off it people. It must be possible to create those emotions without resorting to this gold-drenched, soppy, unrealistic, third rate theme-park-set travesty of a representation of nineteenth century village life. Please see 'Far from The Madding Crowd' with Julie Christie for how to do it. Boston6:08pm Sun 6 Feb
I love this....... ....it leaves you feeling all sort of gooey and longing for innocent times......but having said that, Dorcas does take simpering to a new level... g10:43pm Sun 30 Jan

Sundays like I remember. This is not going to win an Oscar, but it makes great Sunday evening viewing. My particular favourite is Minnie. Every time she speaks, she utters a gem of wisdom that makes me grin, and that is good for any day of the week, but particularly for Sunday. Love it. more please. Film Nut2:16am Sun 30 Jan
Dawn French why does this site keep on using an image of Dawn French to advertise this prog. She has not appeared since the first few episodes and is unlikely to appear again!!! Welshman4:28pm Sun 23 Jan
Nauseating Oh dear! This must be just like what sinking in treacle for the third time feels like.
I expect the BBC trundle this pathetic tripe round the world hopefully for an income of millions, otherwise its a waste of the licence fee. Radicalman11:37pm Mon 10 Jan
Yahooooooooooo!! So glad it's back, at last something decent to watch. A real shame it's only 6 episodes though. Jessie7:06pm Sun 9 Jan

A slice of TV Heaven This is the best programme on tv at the moment. The acting is absolutely excellent, and the gentle pace of the storylines a real tonic. The sense of community, morals and family values that it portrays are all the things that are being eroded in society today. Please bring on another 12 episodes. Sunday evenings will not be the same without it! Missingyoualready10:36am Wed 7 Apr

R.I.P So sorry to her of the death of Dawn French today, she will be sadly missed.
And what a sad way to die.
Death by chocolate will never be seen in the same light after she ate 234 Terry's chocolate oranges and shuffled off this mortal coil. Goodbye tubs Nelly malbec7:03pm Sun 7 Feb
Splendid Many delightful characters.
Please leave the fat woman in jail, she does lower the tone. Scot6:12pm Sun 7 Feb
Brilliant series! If you haven't watched it yet, you must have a look! This is a piece of first rate period drama. Though self-consciously corny at times, it is an absolute pleasure to watch. To see the idyll of life close to nature and the hardships of our ancestors who still had some moral values in them is one thing, but to realise that many of their dilemmas we still face today is another.. Contrary to popular belief, technological advance has made little difference to the nature of the human condition. I commend the people who made it so skillfully that it successfully transports you into the world of your great-great-grandparents! wondering cloud10:26pm Sat 6 Feb
Aaaarrrgghhhh!!!! Please make it STOP!!!! This nauseating, didactic, trite, sepia filtered, revisionist tripe is blocking out valuable prime time viewing slots. Is it because I'm male or because my IQ is above 12 that I'm allergic to this load of old tosh? The BBC tax lavished on this drivel could have been invested into showing test cricket!! Brendan Coyle (Robert Timmins) This is my Favourite show on TV at the moment.
I've been racking my brain to think who Brendan Coyle reminds me of......and I've finally worked it out!
He reminds me of Christopher Dean from Skating on Ice. Anybody else think so too? jac98574:28pm Mon 2 Mar
