The Royal Wedding: A Rough Timetable

8.00am Prince William and best man Prince Harry make their final preparations at Clarence House, while the nearby Goring Hotel is the venue for Kate's bridal party

9.00am The Mounted Regiment of the Household Cavalry prepare to escort the royal procession, while their comrades on operational duties celebrate thousands of miles away in Afghanistan

10.30am Kate Middleton steps into the car, showing off her wedding dress to the world for the first time

11.00am The service begins at Westminster Abbey. The Archbishop of Canterbury presides as Prince William marries Kate Middleton, watched live by millions worldwide

12.00 noon The newlyweds set off on a carriage ride to Buckingham Palace to begin the celebrations

12.30pm The royal party approaches the palace

1.30pm The prince and his new princess step out on to the balcony, and as the world waits for a kiss, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight pays tribute to the future king and queen.

2001
Prince William and Kate meet at St. Andrews University whilst studying Art History (Prince William later switches to Geography)

September 2002
The couple move into a student flat with two other friends including former Etonian Fergus Boyd.

March 2004
The relationship comes out in the media as the couple are pictured on holiday together skiing in Klosters.

June 23rd 2005
The couple complete their degrees and graduate from university.
December 15th 2006
Prince William graduates from the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. Kate attends the event, sparking rumours that things are getting serious between the couple.

April 2007
The couple allegedly go on a break after intense media scrutiny drives them apart, although it was also rumoured that Kate moved into Clarence House two months later.

June 21st 2008
Kate attends the Prince's 26th birthday celebrations at a charity polo event, confirming the couple are back on.

June 2010
The couple move in together into a cottage in Wales, close to the Prince's RAF base.

October 2010
Prince William proposes to Kate during a holiday in Kenya.

November 16th 2010
Clarence House announces the official engagement of the happy couple, followed by media interviews and a showing of the blue sapphire ring which once belonged to Princess Diana.

February 2011
Clarence House announces the wedding of the couple will take place on April 29th, which will be a public holiday.

March 2011
Bruce Oldfield (who designed a dress for Princess Diana) and Alexander McQueen's creative director Sarah Burton emerge as possible designers for the bride's dress. Clarence House announces details of the wedding dress will be kept under wraps until the day of the wedding.
