You'd think the Americans won the war on their own Tom Hank's character says, "I think that Montgomery is over rated." Montgomery spent two years planning D-Day and the French invasion. Another Hollywood Movie After the first dramatic 15 minutes, this film settles down to a typical Hollywood jingoistic war movie.
There have been far superior war films made for the cinema, but they will never be seen on TV by the general public, because they have not been commercially made for Hollywood. Try Stalingrad by Mullner or Ivan’s Childhood by Tarkovsky.

Great Film The best and possibly most realistic war film ever. As to the other posts the war was won primarily by the Russians. More people died in the battle of Stallingrad than all the other Western battles put together for the whole war... RobP6:49pm Sun 28 Feb
