The best ever These are the quintessential Holmes stories, and Jeremy Brett is incomparable as the great detective - he perfectly captures the mood and spirit of the authentic SH. His characterization is dazzling, witty, stylish and funny. Nobody's done it better. Albatross1:56pm Tue 8 May

Not so elementary Watch these episodes if you enjoyed the recent reincarnation of S.H.. Jeremy Brett captures the essence of SH as Conan Doyle depicted him, in a superb way. These episodes taste, smell and feel Victorian/Edwardian which you cannot say for any other attempts at bringing Conan Doyle to the screen. And yes, I love the Rathbone versions. logical deductor6:21pm Wed 25 Jan
