Entourage
Best of 2007
OK no one understands why the terrestrial channels didn’t pick this up and why it was relegated to ITV2 but it is an absolutely great show which is a both funny and an insight into the film industry. If you didn’t already know it is based on the life of Mark Wahlberg and his buddies and follow Vincent Chase and his ‘entourage’ living large. Ari Gold steals the show as the over-zealous agent and seems to be everyone’s favourite. ‘Hey baby, not a premiere night’. Entourage is ‘Sex and the City’ for the new generation and season 4 starts with a blockbuster episode.

Heroes
Best of 2007
Heroes follows a bunch of normal people that discover that they have special powers, from flying to time-travel. A sci-fi show that already has a cult following, Heroes has bought mainstream movie effects to the TV screen with some fabulous sequences. We still freak out just thinking about the Claire, the cheerleader, coming back to life in the mortuary. The idea is a bit X-men and some of the concepts are a bit comedic but there are some great dark moments and Hiro Nakamura is a firm favourite.

Lost
Best of 2007
We are all guessing that getting rescued and living happily every after isn’t going to make for much of a storyline, so series 4 is likely to be just as interesting. Lost is loved by so many people, and the story behind the island was so unpredictable that it has made for compelling viewing watching it unravel. Great acting and characters make this our favourite of 2007.

Dexter
Best of 2007
Dark and wicked. Not for the faint hearted. Dexter has made slicing up people an art form. It is nice to see ex Six Feet Under actor, Michael Hall, in such a well-suited role. The series follows Dexter, a forensic blood splatter expert, who leads a secret second life implementing his own brand of justice.

Flight of the Conchords
Best of 2007
You’re so hot you could be a waitress. You’re so hot you could be an air hostess. You’re so hot you could be a part time model. And our favourite, you’re so hot you could be a curry. There are rare occasions when a new comedy concept comes along and makes you wonder how big this show is going to be. It follows a New Zealand band as they try to make it in New York and merges the kind of comedy that you are use to from the Office with music numbers. If you haven’t watched it, then you must.

Top Gear
Best of 2007
Our highlight was the Polar Expedition and we haven’t seen as much car love before the watershed as when Richard Hammond fell in love with Oliver on their travel through Africa. This is great TV and is one of the most reviewed and rated shows on TVGuide. We can’t deny that it is a bit blokey but I’ve never seen my wife laugh as much through any other show.

The Mighty Boosh
Best of 2007
Please caress me like natural yoghurt. I love to see great British comedy, quirky and funny and something that teaches the Americans a thing or two. Now in its 3rd series it has refined and grown from its original cult following. with fans raving and reciting crazy lyrics. Vince and Howard are modern day comedic heroes.

Californication
Best of 2007
Well the Red Hot Chilli Peppers might not be happy but the show with David Duchovny (Mulder to the rest of us) as Hank, a sharp witted, womanising writer has added a much needed bit of adult humour and raunchiness to our evenings. Hank deals with the dilemmas of modern day Californian life, dealing with drugs, women and relationships with his daughter and her mother. Well written and exceptionally well acted, Californication has been commissioned for another series. David is so good in the role; it makes you feel that the he must have had a real affinity for the character.

The Sopranos
Best of 2007
It brings a little tear to my eye knowing that Tony and I won’t be hanging out anymore and I won’t be able to see the kids grow up to be just like their father. Nostalgia aside, Sopranos was a truly well written and well acted show that bought situations to life. The downside is its over and all you can do is watch repeats for the next 100 years. So what’s the deal with the final fade to black in the last episode.

Tribe
Best of 2007
Hmmm Crunchy. We lived with him from being sick on frog hallucinogenic to the monkeys he keeps eating. Bruce Parry is the new David Attenborough and provides an involved experience that moves from just observation to true interaction. As we all take our holiday experiences more seriously and want to get more engaged with the environment, Tribe lets you see the differences in people and their goals as we move to a more homogenised global society. Tribe is exceptional viewing.

	Best of 2009 Fantastic is a literary term that describes a quality of other literary genres, and in some cases is used as a genre in and of itself, although in this case it is often conflated with the Supernatural.
