These are the common questions we get asked

So what's up with the new design?
Over the past 6 months the traffic and viewers to TVGuide have gone up five fold and we want to make sure that we are constantly evolving to meet the needs of TV lovers. If you don't use something we dump it and we are constantly adding new stuff.

Why does BBC3, BBC4 not come up even after I select it in my channel list?
Only channels that have programmes on at the time you select will appear in your grid and as BBC3 and BBC4 start at 7pm any grid span before that they will not appear.

How do I create a profile?
On the home page there is a blue box that says customise channels, just select your UK region (this sets up your regional BBC/ITV channels) and your system (i.e. Freeview, Sky, Virgin). On the next screen you will be able to individually select each channel.

Why does abc1 appear after 6pm when I can't get it on freeview
abc1 continues to broadcast after 6pm on Cable and Satellite

Why does my channel selection not save?
Channel saving relies on cookies, if you have them switched off your channel settings will not be saved. (You can switch on cookies just for TVGuide in Internet Explorer - Tools menu -> Internet Options -> Privacy tab -> Sites -> enter 'www.tvguide.co.uk' and click allow). You can retrieve your channel settings, if you have saved your email address with your profile by clicking the login link under that tabs. If you have cookies switched on and it still doesn't work email us with the browser version (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, iPhone) you are using and computer operating system (e.g. MAC Tiger/PC Vista) and we will try and recreate the problem and fix it.

Why is channel [obscure channel] not available?
Email us the channel and if people want it, we will add it.

Why does select cable, freeview, satellite disappear after the first time I set up?
TVGuide makes a best guess at the channels you have on your selected system but does not store what system you selected, only the channels. We know that some people have two systems and we can't easily manage this. The best thing to do is set the channels manually or delete your TVGuide cookie, close your browser and start again.

Can I have Videoplus numbers?
Not easy. A US company called Gemstar owns the rights to these and only licenses them to Radio Times online. The codes have been reverse engineered but we can't risk getting sued.

Why does TVGuide not default to the current time?
It does. You are probably using a bookmark with a time saved in it. Just delete the bookmark and set it up with just http://www.tvguide.co.uk without anything at the end of the URL.

We are always looking to improve TVGuide. If you have any improvements you would like. to see implemented on this site, or there is something about TVGuide.co.uk that you don't like, please feel free to use the form below to let us know. If you do decide to enter your email address we will only use it for further correspondence on the issue in question, if necessary.
