Well done James as that is a tourist route and could be a good work useful line you may have achieved the best part and generated interest in a new coast opening, they did it in North Wales and if we could train from Portishead through Gordano Valley again direct to Yatton we could arrive in style too. Great programme, daft idea, but you conquered the technical and then it rained, very enjoyable, who has a rail line next to build a small gauge line on? Lots of nice history and you really needed to contact Trefs, you could have raised an army! But then you had Oz so were OK.

I love this show, pointless really but entertaining without being patronising. I'm going to watch it with my 9 year old son. Happy to pay my license again (sort of).

This was a truely original, creative idea very well executed. Deserves recognition otherwise the licence fee will all go to fundocrap

Hornby The presenter tries to build the world's longest model railway track, covering a 10-mile route between the Devon towns of Barnstaple and Bideford - which last had a regular train service more than 40 years ago. He is helped by thousands of members of the public, as well as wine expert and railway enthusiast Oz Clarke, but finds himself beset by the same problems that affect full-size train services - only on a much larger scale
