superman
It must be me that I am the only one who keeps nodding off and everyone else is watching a very exiting programme. I find it a very slow series which is a great pity because there a fantastic actors in it.

Puts US Drama to Shame
Agreed there are plot holes, and big dollops of melodrama. But Luther is a great drama because of this rather than despite of it. It is pure entertainment manages this with some beautiful production and character (not necessarily characterS). While US shows try to be 'gritty and realistic' and get it horribly wrong (see US version of Shameless when compared to UK show... which still manages to be dreadful despite an almost identical script), Luther entertains and does so with style, a great lead and even better music.

6.5/10
Idris Elba is a fascinating actor - loved him in the wire and his cameo in the american office. Luther has great potential and some great storylines albeit a bit ridiculous at times. Get rid of the lurking passive British atmosphere that is common with all British TV shows and replace it with a unique and realistic quality similar to HBO shows such as the wire, the sopranos etc. I think better supporting actors are needed. Some of the villains like Alice are overplayed and the acting becomes cringeworthy. However the last "bedlam axis" villain I thought was played really well. A bit more sophistication, a few better cinematographers and a HBO writer or two on the team would turn this into an awesome programme.

Entertainment At Its Best
Despite plot holes here and there lets remember this is a drama and a exceptionally fine one. Most entertaining, superb acting and very engaging. I look forward to more, the sooner the better.

awesome and i want more
I feel slightly short-changed after only 4 episodes, but I enjoyed it immensely and the clever way he solves his problems. i hope it comes back next year, but I want the full 6 episodes next time.

A spate of murders occurs across London, and Luther suspects they were committed by the same villain. However, hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and a huge pool of witnesses seems to point to the contrary. Meanwhile, Henry Madsen wakes from his coma, giving the detective reason to fear for his career - and Alice's life. Idris Elba stars
