Ruth Watson heads to Kentchurch Court in Herefordshire, a stately home that has been owned by the Scudamore family since the 11th century. Current proprietor Jan Lucas-Scudamore has done her best to keep the finances under control, but with running costs of £120,000 a year, she appears to be fighting a losing battle. However, she is reluctant to take on Ruth's suggestion of opening the house to the public
