Old school
Full-on and extraordinarily in depth study made just in time to let us hear from those involved at all levels in their own words. Sombre and gripping, with powerful narration and a profound theme from Carl Davis that somehow conveys so much about this period - the sinister, the thrilling sweep of glory, the personal anguish and the troubling. Immense.

One of the best documentaries created. It doesn't treat you like an idiot, is full of factual information, very interesting and entertaining, yet very chilling as well. Reminds you of the horrors of war and does it in a very poetic and moving way. A definite must watch.

More than you learn at school.
This is a complete series, nothing missing and learned more than I did at school, a lot more. It was an ITV series originally so it's the only decent thing to come from ITV ever.

Documentary and a Half.
Without question the most impressive documentary series ever produced. This was essential viewing during the 70's. So why can't I can't find it on BBC iPlayer?

We may forget
Hitler came to power on a small minority vote. These troubled times aid/promote nationalistic politcs and policies. If this country, and Europe are not careful we may well repeat the mistakes made in the 1930s. This series should be shown to every one before they reach the age to vote

Response to scheduled time points
This airing is a repeat. Repeats are shown at all times of the day and night. No doubt when the original was aired in 1973 it had a prime time slot. It's scheduled time should hardly be an issue in an age of various playback devices and DVDs. The complete original series can be purchased for £35, the complete 30th anniversary edition can be purchased for £50.

Superb
Fantastic documentary, one of the best I've had the pleasure of watching, but I agree with viewer. I cant understand why it isn't on at a more accessible time.

The definitive history of World War 2
One of the greatest pieces of documentary I have seen in my life. Widely acclaimed both at the time of release in the 70s and today, although it in terms of awards, at failed, which says everything it needs to about the people who select and award the BAFTAs & OSCARs. As Tyroneslater said, the definitive history.

Remember Jeremy Isaacs' classic documentary explores the Second World War's powerful legacy. For many people the conflict was the most significant experience of their lives, but it also left millions dead - ordinary civilians and victims of persecution, as well as military casualties.
