Wild & Uneven Masterpiece
If you have yet to see or experience a Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger film (I know Where I'm Going, Life & Death Of Colonel Blimp, The Red Shoes, A Canterbury Tale, Black Narcissus), then this is perhaps the best place to start. Beautifully photographed by Jack Cardiff in black & white & Techincolour, it stars David Niven in his finest role as an RAF pilot who's near-death, parachuteless escape from his WW2 bomber turns out not to be as fortunate as he may have thought. Great work from Roger Livesey & Marius Goring too! Perhaps one of the strangest, most entertaining films Britain has yet produced.

Extraordinarily bad trailer.
This trailer gives practically no idea of what the film is about or its quality. Ignore it!

The most fab film. Great for 1946, clever, romantic, interesting politics of trial scenes. Just a delight to see with a partner.
