Takes me back to France
This film has very good insights into the French way of life. It's honest, romantic and makes you feel good. That's enough for me.

Too early...
I last saw this film back in March and posted a response to a comment. It's Saturday, 6:45pm is too early for me to "switch off" and relax with a Rioja and a good film. I notice Kelly's Heroes is shown earlier each repeat.

Gentle Romantic Comedy
This is an engaging film about a high-flying character who goes back to an old house and vineyard from his past, remembers his late Uncle, the boy he was, and meets a lively young French woman, which all leads him to re-evaluate his life. I can see why Russell Crowe would be attracted to the role, and with Crowe, why Ridley Scott wanted to make this film. It is far removed from being the action/adventure that you might have expected these two to partner-up again with, which in itself may be a reason as to why they made it. It is pleasant, mostly laid back and enjoyable, but not outstandingly so. It's good - and that's good enough.

Love it
Its amazing how a film seen on a plane can just seem ok - but then by chance I watched again and my partner and I fell in love with it -the romance of Provence and the setting which seemed so rich in colour and warmth captured our imagination enough to go over and stay at the wine makers and Fanny Chenal's villa next to the estate in Bonnieux we had a fab time wonderful area to visit thanks to the film

@Slogger
I wouldn't say that the people who did not enjoy this film lead dull lives and ask for a exciting distraction. A nice little movie - not even exciting- is always a treat when relaxing. This one, particularly, is predictable from the start - the plot, the characters and the romance- and pretty dull. If Russel Crowe didn't play in this film, it would have been quickly forgotten by now. Again, it's just one opinion amongst others. Some would find it great, some will think it dull. No matter the kind of life that we are leading...

A good film
I have seen this film twice before. It is pleasantly watchable especially with a good meal and bottle of red. Critics must lead dull lives to demand ever inceasing exciting distractions. Relax...take a leaf out of Russell Crowe's book !!!

Dull movie
Nothing fantastic about this movie, not even the French landscapes (and I am French). Nor Russell or Cotillard are very good in it, and the story is not very exciting. Even Ridley Scott can't turn this dull, dull film into a good one. Sorry. I bought the dvd and gave it to a charity right after I watched it, hoping someone would at last enjoy it...
