Good rollicking fun

For a fun film, the acting cast is superb. Bruce Willis does a commendable stint, Gary Oldman is superb as a meglomaniac, Milla Jojovic has little to do in the acting stakes, but looks enticing, and Roux Paul does, well whatever he does, in his own inimitable over-the-top manner. Even Lee Evans gets a creditable look-in. The undercurrent is a reasonable sci-fi pot boiler, but the real star is the sense of fun brought by the actors. Sit back, leave your pomposity and credulity at the door, and have fun.

Classic Sci-Fi

Most visualy stunning sci-fi adventures I've ever seen. Lovely cast choices complement a non stop thrill a minute saga. Wonderful music score. Luc Besson's best film IMO

Luc Besson classic

Not many films successfully combine being a thriller with farce, as the farce usually lightens the mood too much, but here, a little bit of ham...Ok a fairly big slice of ham... alongside the farce goes a long way in this Sci-fi movie as Willis meets an alien emissary in the shapely shape of Milla Jovovich, sent to save The Earth from a malevolent force.

Borrows Visually from 2000 AD Comic

The Fifth Element borrows a lot visually from the British comic book, 2000AD. E.g. The shape of the policemens' helmets.
