Enjoyable, if a poor relation. Pale Rider is Eastwod's version of Shane, but with two females who both fall for him. It is here that the film is a poor relation to Shane. Whereas Shane focuses on Brandon Wilde's adoration of Alan Ladd as a heroic father figure, Pale Rider goes for female desire in an all too familiar Clint swap. I accept that the film is enjoyable but along with the overrated High Plains Drifter it is not amongst Eastwoods best efforts in the Western genre. Ghidera10:27pm Sat 8 Oct
It's a western!! Fascism?? Duh!! It may be said that it's a little formulaic but it's a Clint western. What do you expect? It tells it's story well and keeps your interest. Great film. Geoff Burger9:44pm Thu 14 Oct
Did you see the film? Mr "RIP" clearly has never seen this film.
Eastwood returns to the sadle after nine years to both star and direct.
After a group of independant miners are forced from there land by a nasty evil miner. Clint rides in to become their avenger and administers natrual justice. Good triumphs over evil.
No skinheads (with or without social issues) in sight!

Sleeper Clint's idea of a good movie is fascist plot elements and one take per shot. I give this movie four Zs as it's a total sleeper unless you're a skinhead with social issues. Rip10:50pm Mon 21 Apr
