One of the best War films ever made...not to put too fine a point on it...I like it. Would like to see the same from Blighty and the Ruskies on a similar level of quality.

Despite what people say about the cast and plot, this is an amazing interpretation on the events that may have happened on D-day. Well done

Good film but ...
surely Tom Hanks was too young to be fighting in world war II? bit of a plot flaw ...

You'd think the Americans won the war on their own
Tom Hank's character says, "I think that Montgomery is over rated." Montgomery spent two years planning D-Day and the French invasion. He also beat Rommel in North Africa. Which must make him one of the greatest Generals of WWII if not of all time.

Yes It Is Good- But!
I think The Thin Red Line, portrays, the greater individual torment of the youngmen who went to war

Another Hollywood Movie
After the first dramatic 15 minutes, this film settles down to a typical Hollywood jingoistic war movie. There have been far superior war films made for the cinema, but they will never be seen on TV by the general public, because they have not been commercially made for Hollywood. Try Stalingrad by Mullner or Ivan’s Childhood by Tarkovsky.

Great Film
The best and possibly most realistic war film ever. As to the other posts the war was won primarily by the Russians. More people died in the battle of Stallingrad than all the other Western battles put together for the whole war...

Didn't you know that the Americans won the war out-right? I think there were a few other allied soldiers about, but America did the main bit... :P

No cosideration for British or Commonwealth troops in this film. Hanks also did this in Band of Brothers.
