Film Quo Vadis (1951)
Mervyn LeRoy's sprawling historical epic about a brave Roman soldier who falls in love with a Christian woman - an ill-advised romance that leaves him facing the wrath of the unbalanced Emperor Nero. It does go on a bit, but most of the performances are solid enough, and Peter Ustinov is on excellent form as the utterly bonkers ruler.
