Film The Guns of Fort Petticoat (1957)
An Army officer refuses to obey his commander's illegal order to raid a Native American village. Threatened with a court martial, he deserts and makes his way back to his home town in Texas, realising that the undefended women there will bear the brunt of the tribe's revenge while their own menfolk are way fighting in the Civil War. Anticipating an attack, he sets about teaching the women to shoot, turning them into crack shots. Western, starring Audie Murphy, Kathryn Grant, Hope Emerson and Jeff Donnell
