ludicrous programme
so the typhoon and weapons are our biggest earner ,more efficient ways to kill people is hardly something to be proud of

Contradictory
Confused and contradictory, serious journalism must have gone the same way as our industrial base

Contradictory
The programme couln`t make up its mind one way or another, confused and ill considered. Seems serious journalism has gone the same way as our industrial base. Expect much better for the money.

Interesting but....
I have some respect for Evan Davis but the programme did seem to almost congratulate the Thatcherite economic polices of the last 30 years. De-industrialisation has brought misery to thousands, many industries rather than supported were staved of investment or sold to the highest bidder without thought. Only now has the country belated realised that the service and financial sector, so highly praised in recent years, cannot support the country as a whole. Not even a mention of Rover ether. As for the Typhoon, it IS a multi role aircraft, the delays in its development were down to the politics of FOUR nations involved in building it, particularly the Germans who did pull out, then rejoin. If it weren’t for this program and BAE systems, research, manufacturing added value jobs, and tax income coffers would be in a worse state.

What a load of old tosh.
Absolute fantasy. The Typhoon "arguably the best fighter jet in the world" Tosh, it's outdated, lacks multi-role capability, is grossly over-budget and has wasted this country billions. Also he failed to mention the social costs of sending all our "low value" work to China. Now a large number of our "low value" workers are stuck on benefits!

richy rich
I stopped watching this after 15 minutes. We should be grateful for all the industry we have and letting China do it all for us has made the economy better and created new jobs? Errr....no it hasn't! This was clearly written by a rich person where our total industry destruction didn't affect them. Evan then insulted the Chinese a few times whilst still trying to convince us viewers that we have it so good here. I won't be watching it again, 15 minutes was too much. Not only was it biased and insulting, it was boring.

Proud?
So that's what we have to be proud of, is it? A new military jet and a super-fast car. All helps to kill people, I suppose.

The secret of producing a classic Drumstick lolly at Britain's biggest family-owned sweet factory, and the making of guitars in demand from the likes of Dolly Parton and Ed Sheeran. Plus, how a roll of steel is turned into a finished radiator in a matter of minutes, and a company combining robotics and traditional artistry to create shotguns
