Emmerdale best Christmas episodes: Vic dies and Belle is born 1998<\/h2>\n

Birth and death was the theme for the Emmerdale 1998 Christmas episode.<\/p>\n

Postmaster Vic Windsor was killed off in a bungled armed robbery by Andy Sugden\u2019s dad, Billy Hopwood. A fight ensued after Vic caught Billy trying to break into his Post Office safe. Billy \u2013 who was armed with a shotgun \u2013 threatened Vic, then pushed him into a set of shelves. Critically injured by the impact, Vic pleaded with Billy to ring an ambulance, but the cowardly criminal scarpered. Poor Vic was left to die alone, as 11.1 million tuned in to mourn the passing of one of their favourite characters.<\/p>
