Emmerdale fans have been left furious after ITV announced it has cancelled The British Soap Awards for 2026. It comes after the show was scrapped in 2024, but returned in 2025.<\/p>

On Wednesday February 11 an ITV spokesperson confirmed to Radio Times:<\/a> \u201cThe British Soap Awards is taking a break and won\u2019t be on air in 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

However they did not give a reason for the axing, leaving fans to speculate exactly what\u2019s gone on. And many think they\u2019ve worked out why it won\u2019t air.<\/p>\n

ITV axes The British Soap Awards for 2026<\/h2>\n

It has been a turblent few years for the event. It was first cancelled in 2020 due to Covid and didn\u2019t return the following year in 2021 either.<\/p>\n

Then it aired in 2022 and 2023, but 2023 saw an upheaval when Phillip Schofield, who had hosted the ceremony for 16 years quit ITV. He was replaced at the last minute by Jane McDonald.<\/p>
