Good - but bloated and over-long
This is like 2 stories stitched (badly) together. It is worth the endurance test, and is mostly enjoyable...but it is bloated and is unnecessarily long and aimless for long periods. Enjoy if you have the time.

How Awesome!
I just love this film, cause it's is so different to other superhero film's, because its more believable and more realistic to follow a man who's been to hell and back who wants to HELP people, so stop being so idiotic! How in any way is this a horror movie? It's not like there's a load of fighting or human centipedes... =] Oh and Leroy is so right; Christopher Nolan is a superb director, and I love the fact that Cilian Murphey plays Dr Crane in Batman and Robert Fischer is Inception (which is also a great film), so STOP BEING SO HORRIBLE! I just WISH I could watch it again, but the dvd of it I have has been pinched by my sibling... grr... Anywho, its just great. So back off. =D

opinionated!
No...don't stop messing with the classics when you do it this well....if the writers of the previous comments don't like it....then don't watch em. The two new Batman films are simply brilliant. They are definitely not horror movies but they are quite dark......obviously as it focusses on BATman element!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dark Reboot
Tis is one of the best 'superhero' adaptations in a long time. The point of comic book heroes is that they evolve - and Batman has indeed been updated...magnificently. British director Christopher Nolan (Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception) has an incredible vision, full of technical detail, flare, luscious cinematography and intelligent plots that don't patronise his audience. Batman Begins was his first opportunity to really flex those directing muscles, showing us how he (and his equally talented brother Jonathan) can take this franchise and do the unthinkable - out-do Tim Burton...and then some. Nolan's 'reboot' has a somewhat difficult first act, establishing Bruce Wayne as some kind of 'playboy with a concience', but it does subtly illustrate where Batman's fighting skills and weaponry interest develop from. The rest of the film is an exciting ride (in the Batmobile, re-imagined as a much more practical tank-like vehicle) with some pretty dark elements. Perhaps his choice of The Scarecrow as Batman's first nemesis is a little underwhelming, but it serves as a mechanism to show Wayne's concern for Gotham and its residents, who all ironically fear their black protector. Nolan went on to better even himself with the incredible The Dark Knight, and has a 3rd, final part to his trilogy. If 'Batman 3' continues the trend, Nolan may be able to advise George Lucas on how to do three act Adventure properly.. A must see.

Horror Movie
I am fed up with directors turning my childhood books and comics into horror movies. Stop messing with classics. I do not want to watch movies with elements and tricks taken from horror movies. I hate horror movies.
