Season 1 Episode 1 of 3
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall investigates why we waste so much food and, with one third of all food produced in the country never getting eaten, he challenges supermarkets and the fast food industry to reduce their waste. The average family disposes of £700 worth of food every year and Hugh confronts shoppers in a supermarket, armed with a wheelie bin, and attempts to take their shopping off them before they have even left the store. He also visits a parsnip farm in Norfolk, where he discovers how any slightly imperfect fruit or vegetables will be rejected because of strict cosmetic standards imposed by the supermarkets

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall concludes his mission to try to stop Britain from wasting so much food, clothing and recyclable material by challenging the UK's biggest retailers to give more of their surplus food to charity, and joins an illicit midnight raid to see what can be found in supermarkets' bins. Hugh also tries to help struggling British farmers by forcing the supermarkets to relax their cosmetic standards on fruit and vegetables and continues with his rubbish revolution in Prestwich, Greater Manchester

Hugh's War on Waste: The Battle Continues In a follow-up to November's two-part documentary, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall continues his mission to reduce the amount of waste in the UK. In the UK people throw away 2.5 billion cardboard coffee cups every year. But how many of these get recycled? Hugh is shocked when he finds out, so he asks the likes of Starbucks, Costa and Caffe Nero why. Also, with internet shopping now a part of everyday life, he looks at the problem of excess packaging - taking on Amazon, the company considered to be the worst offender. Plus, updates on his campaign to stop supermarkets wasting perfectly good food
