Damian Lewis has recently branched into music but one of his videos has hit the internet for all the wrong reasons.

The Homeland actor, 55, has been experimenting with singing in recent years and has even been working with songwriter Guy Chambers.

Guy is responsible for some seriously iconic hits from the likes of Tina Turner, Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue.

Unfortunately, Damian’s songs are yet to reach such dizzy heights.

One has certainly got people talking over on social media…. just not sparking the reaction he might have hoped for.

Damian Lewis’ music video hits social media

Damian is famed for his portrayal of U.S. Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody in the smash hit series Homeland. The London-born star won both a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for the part.

Fans will also know him for playing billionaire hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod in Billions, and for his breakout role as Major Richard Winters in Band of Brothers.

More recently, however, he has been determined to prove to the world he can sing. His Instagram is now bursting with examples of his new music career.

One video has even been sent around the social media-sphere at record speed. Though only because people are wondering if it is actually a parody… Oops.

The moody track is called King and, in the video, the actor is dressed in an… interesting… ensemble.

Damian’s faux fur lapel on his jacket is somewhat complimented by his bare chest underneath, and the white loafers on his feet have also sparked some chatter.

Damian has topped off his rock star look with a pair of vintage, geometric sunglasses.

The setting for the video?

A rundown, outdoor stairwell for a block of flats in London’s Camden. We expect it was chosen for its edgy graffiti and algae-covered walls.

So what exactly have fans been saying?

Fans react to Damian Lewis’ music video for King

King has been shared over on Instagram and we had to stifle a chuckle at some of the comments.

It was posted by a friend of the late TV presenter, Caroline Flack. Although, it appears she might have just hit a nerve with Damian.

With no trace of her original post, Mollie Grosberg has shared another clip of King and said: “UPDATE: I have been singing this song for days and I’ve not stopped thinking about the whole saga since Saturday night.

“He’s got a good voice and I’ve heard he’s a really nice guy, so as long as the video just never sees the light of day again you do you my babe. I’m in an internal battle with it and I need to get a grip.

“Plz don’t be mad at me Damian it was fully constructive.”

Commenting underneath on the video, one person said: “The song is dull but the video is unintentionally hilarious, whoever styled it should be prosecuted.”

Another added: “It’s the white leather slip on loafers? Why? By all the Gods WHY?” Agreeing, a third penned: “It’s the white loafers that do it for me – it’s Dot from Eastenders. Sorry Damian.”

Remarking on a scene of Damian walking slowly down the grotty steps, someone else asked: “What’s that walk down the steps?”

One follower replied to them: “Pouty stair walk.”

Another critic admitted: “But this has cleared me of my 30 year crush so thanks for that.”

‘He just needs more direction’

Others do like it, though. The owner of a Damian Lewis fan page on the ‘gram said: “Damian Lewis’ King has been on repeat here all week – and I finally sat down to write about it. And honestly? This might be the coolest song he’s ever written.”

Another added: “I love Damien for everything he does. His dramatic artistry is exceptional from Band of Brothers to his movies.”

Original poster Mollie is even coming around to the song, too.

When accused of being “mean”, she shot back: “He’s got such a good voice! He just needs a bit more direction.

“I did a recall video to clarify I’m proud of him but also can he just ask around for some advice so he can really take off. I rly like him.”
