Death Valley series 2: Episode 4 guest cast includes Line of Duty villain and stars from Vera and The Good Ship Murder

If you like People Just Do Nothing, you'll be happy about one guest star in episode 4
Cameron Frew

Death Valley series 2 episode 4 doesn’t just revolve around another murder: it introduces a familiar (and brilliantly loathsome) Line of Duty star in a role with a big link to DI Janie Mallowan.

Community service plummets, fishing village grudges, and a TV show set with a mysterious death – you never know what to expect every week in Death Valley.

In this Sunday’s (June 7) episode, Janie and John tackle the strange murder of a commune’s founder, found impaled on a horse plough ahead of a vote that could change the community’s future. Janie, never one to cut corners, would rather be anywhere else… but she has a good reason.

So, let’s get into everyone who appears as part of the Death Valley series 2 episode 4 guest cast.

Death Valley series 2 episode 4 guest cast: Owen Teale as Michael Mallowan

Owen Teale makes his Death Valley debut in series 2 episode 4. He plays Michael Mallowan, a free-spirited hippie who lives in the commune.

That surname isn’t a coincidence, either. He’s Janie’s dad! Unfortunately, it’s not a friendly reunion, at least from her perspective. He’s a “moocher” who leads a “bohemian lifestyle”, reeling in “artsy-fartsy acquaintances” and living outside the “narrow boxes that society creates”.

He’s incredibly friendly, but a bit oblivious to the hurt he’s clearly inflicted.

Considering Teale is likely best known for playing Chief Constable Philip Osborne, one of Line of Duty’s most formidable and intimidating antagonists.

He also starred in Game of Thrones as Alliser Thorne, as well as appearing in The Pembrokeshire Murders, River (one of the best BBC dramas), and King Arthur.

Asim Chaudhry as Omar Sahni

Asim Chaudhry plays Omar Sahni, a relatively new member of the commune who makes more than a few not-so-subtle hints that he’d rather go back to Reading. He misses TV, football, and the comforts of his home.

Chaudhry, an actor, producer, writer, and rapper, has established a wide, successful presence across British telly. He may be best known for People Just Do Nothing, his hit BBC mockumentary comedy.

He’s also appeared in Taskmaster, The Cleaner, Inside No. 9, Industry, Black Mirror, and this year’s Dirty Business on Channel 4.

Death Valley series 2 episode 4 guest cast: Tori Allen-Martin as Amanda Sahni

Tori Allen-Martin plays Amanda Sahni, Omar’s wife, who also lives at the commune. She appears to be happy there, but every time she insists it’s great, she says so with a strained smile.

She’s also the commune’s content creator, despite the fact that phones aren’t otherwise allowed.

Allen-Martin’s career began mostly behind the camera, founding her own production company (Interval Productions) in the late 2000s. However, in 2018, she bagged a role in Unforgotten as Sandra Rayworth.

This led to performances in London Kills, Here We Go, and The Flatshare.

Ele McKenzie as Chloe

Ele McKenzie plays Chloe, a hard-working member of the commune.

McKenzie doesn’t have a lot of credits to her name (so far!). Her first on-screen role was in 2024’s Peaked, and she’s since appeared in Everyone Else Burns and Funboys. She’s also performing her first solo stand-up tour later this year, Ele McKenzie: Bringing It All Back Home.

Death Valley series 2 episode 4 guest cast: Rhiannon Clements as Minerva Maddox

Rhiannon Clements plays Minerva Maddox, who was raised in the commune. Janie bonds with her over their shared resentment of their dads, and Minerva has some bold ideas to bring more revenue to the community – including a vegan bean curd cheese.

Hollyoaks viewers should recognise Clements from her time playing Summer Ranger. She also starred in Vera as DC Stephanie Duncan, and appeared in Riot Women, Patience, and Small Prophets.

Lynn Hunter in Death Valley

Lynn Hunter as Lowri Griffiths

Lynn Hunter plays Lowri Griffiths, a neighbouring long-time farmer in a turf war with the commune. She calls its members “degenerates” and thinks its late leader was a “pound-shop Karl Marx”. Naturally, this makes her one of the top suspects.

Hunter’s career dates back to 1992, with a hefty list of credits. You may have seen her in The Story of Tracy Beaker, Submarine, The End of the F***ing World, The Crown, and The Tuckers.

Joshua McCord in Death Valley

Joshua McCord as Aled Griffiths

Joshua McCord plays Aled, Lowri’s son. She wants him to take over the farm when she retires, but he clearly has other ideas for his future.

You may have seen McCord in Doc Martin, The Cleaner, Casualty, and Out There. He’s arguably best known for playing Billy Tucker in The Tuckers.

Death Valley series 2 episode 4 guest cast Zak Douglas as Jack

Zak Douglas appears briefly in Death Valley series 2 episode 4 as Jack, a member of the commune.

Douglas should be immediately recognisable to The Good Ship Murder fans, as he’s appeared in 24 episodes, playing Jamil Al-Rashid. He’s also starred in Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, Vera, and Ridley.

Gareth Snook as Nick

Gareth Snook also has a brief role in Death Valley series 2 episode 4. He plays Nick, another member of the commune (who only appears in scenes next to Jack!).

Snooker has also starred in Taboo, Law & Order: UK, The Bill, and French and Saunders.
