As Debbie’s dementia ramps up in heartbreaking scenes, Coronation Street star Jonathan Howard revealed exactly how long she has left

With how quickly Coronation Street has been ramping up Debbie’s dementia storyline, it’s no surprise that fans were terrified that we would be saying goodbye to the iconic character sooner rather than later.
However, that’s actually not the case. It seems like Coronation Street are going to use Debbie for as long as they can.
Debbie Webster’s dementia storyline took a turn
Last night, viewers got a glimpse into Debbie’s own world. The show briefly showed her speaking to a woman we had never seen before. But then as Debbie walked away, we got to see she was actually having a conversation with Toyah.
Then tonight, Debbie found Eva at the bottom of the stairs in the pub after she had been pushed by Sam. But when she left to call an ambulance, she completely forgot.
Later, when Carla brought Debbie back to the flat, she was clearly extremely confused about everything. And when alone with Carl, she even quizzed him on who Carla was.
But when Ronnie got home and explained there was an ambulance at the Rovers, Debbie was horrified to realise she had left Eva at the bottom of the stairs.
With the heartbreaking storyline ramping up very quickly, viewers have been wondering how long we have left with the icon.
When is Debbie leaving Coronation Street?
While many feared she was leaving soon, we can all rest assured we have almost one whole year left of Debbie!
Speaking to The Sun, Carl actor Jonathan Howard opened up about when Sue Devaney is contracted to. Making it clear there’s still a while to go.
He explained: “Sue is contracted to August, but already they are ramping up the dementia storyline. It’s going to be very sad, so sad, I love Sue so much.
“I’m so happy she gets to play my mum and I get to play her son.”
So, if Sue is contracted to August 2027, and soaps usually film around six weeks in advance, we could see Debbie on our screens until September – early October.
Jonathan went on to admit he will be very “emotional” when she leaves, as she has been there from the very start for him.
He admitted: “It’s a nice little family we’ve created. So knowing that at some point, it’s still a year down the line, it’s going to come to an end, it’s so sad.”
