Nancy and Lee are making a temporary comebackEastEnders fans have been wondering exactly how Lee and Nancy Carter will return to the show. But many think they have it figured out – especially after the latest tease.
Last month it was revealed that Nancy and Lee Carter were set to make a dramatic return to EastEnders. Both Maddy Hill and Danny Hatchard are reprising their roles.
Nancy was last seen back in 2022, while Lee’s exit took place in 2020, with him briefly returning for one-off episodes a few times since. But with the news of their temporary return, EastEnders fans are now fearing it means heartbreak is on the horizon.
Nancy and Lee set to return with ‘explosive’ scenes
After the exciting return announcement Danny spoke to Digital Spy about what fans could expect. And while he had to stay quiet on the details, he definitely made it clear nobody will be disappointed.
He explained: “It’s a very explosive return. It is my most exciting return yet. This is my fourth return, and I’ve got a lot to sink my teeth into. Let’s just say that.”
Both returns happen ahead of the shock exit for their mum, Linda Carter as Kellie Bright leaves the show. It marks the end of an era for the Carter clan, as Danny Dyer left as Mick Carter not that long ago either.
While Danny doesn’t know how his return factors into Linda’s exit just yet, he knows the whole thing is “exciting and well worth watching”.
But his explanation has made fans wonder if tragedy is actually what brings the siblings back to Walford.

In 2022, Mick Carter departed the soap, as Danny Dyer decided to leave after nine years.
However, his exit still is mysterious all these years later. He dived off a cliff to rescue Linda. But she managed to get out on her own, whereas Mick got lost in the current, and was presumed dead. But his body was never found.
For years fans have held onto hope that one day Mick will walk back into the pub alive and well. But now that Lee and Nancy are returning – and Linda exiting – fans think Mick’s body is finally set to be discovered.
One penned on social media: “Lee and Nancy returning… Is this how you tell us you have found Mick’s body?! I can’t even. Please no, not Mick!”
Another noted a eerie similarity in their last return. They commented: “The fact Lee and Nancy last reunited in December 2024 for Linda’s special standalone episode. It was a glimpse into her future if she didn’t stop drinking and it included a funeral.
“Now, two years later, Lee and Nancy will reunite once more. This time surely it has to be for Mick Carter’s funeral…”
However, another fan refused to accept that Mick was dead. And is actually hoping they all can leave together.
They wrote: “Wild theory. Lee and Nancy return for Mick’s funeral. Then Mick turns up alive and all the Carters can ride off into the sunset.”
Whatever the reason, it sounds like Lee and Nancy will be very busy during their stint on EastEnders.
