Nigel and Julie make a grim discovery in EastEnders spoilers
It’s been a few weeks since Julie and her chickens – Posh, Sporty and David Peckham – moved in with Phil and Nigel. And to say things have been rocky would be an understatement.
Phil has struggled with his new houseguests, which has led to clashes with Julie. Both of them of them believe they know what’s best for dementia-stricken Nigel, but their continual quarrelling is doing nothing for his state of mind. It’s left Nigel feeling stressed and stuck in the middle as he continues to navigate the challenges of his illness.
Tragedy strikes next week when Nigel and Julie wake up to discover their pets have been killed overnight. The foxes have eaten Posh and co and poor Nigel is heartbroken to realise it was all his fault. As the couple argue, Nigel becomes distressed as he can’t recall what happened.
Later, Julie takes another mysterious phone call. She insists it’s about a prospective job, but Nigel is convinced she’s hiding something. Their conversation stirs up old feelings from the past and leads Julie to make a confession.
Nigel takes Phil on a countryside mission
Floored by Julie’s revelation, Nigel decides he needs a change of scene.
He asks Phil to take him away to the countryside in search of a time capsule he and Grant buried as kids.
As the friends arrive in the middle of nowhere, Nigel is on a mission to find its location. The search initially appears to be in vain as Phil urges Nigel to admit defeat and come him with him. But to both their surprise, Nigel is able to locate the exact spot where the capsule is buried.
Opening it up, Nigel and Phil are shocked to discover what’s inside. Afterwards, the friends have an emotional heart-to-heart and discuss everything that’s been happening.

Julie is left feeling like a third wheel as Nigel and Phil return to Number 55, bonded by their time together in the countryside. The pair help Julie prepare for her job interview at the school, but Julie is left feeling anxious. What exactly is bothering her?
Julie ends up missing her interview when Nigel causes a scene by mistaking George for Julie’s previous lover. He’s in a total state, so Julie decides to stay and care for him instead of pursuing the job opportunity.
