As Aidan slips back into a coma and Aaron calls off the wedding, spoilers reveal huge relief for John as things turn on their head

The wedding drama continues

In Emmerdale tonight, John Sugden again got away with his crimes as Aidan fell back into a coma.

It’s all drama in the village as John and Aaron’s wedding day seems to be going from bad to worse. Last night (May 26) Cathleen appeared asking John to go to the hospital with her, and they had a clash.

In tonight’s episode (May 27), she and John headed to see Aidan. But when Aaron got the wrong end of the stick, he called off their wedding. But how far will John go to get him back?

What happened between John and Aidan tonight?

The episode again opened with another one of John’s nightmares. And tonight, it was Aidan Moore objecting to the ceremony (we finally heard his voice!).

When he arrived at the hospital, Aidan clearly was scared of John, and kept saying “no”. John sent Cathleen away so he and Aidan could have some alone time, and in doing so it became clear that Aidan remembers everything.

John was extremely cruel to his former beau, telling him he only ever wanted to prove how important he was to Aidan’s life. And that he saved him – but Aidan saw things differently.

While John was talking, Aidan slowly reached for the help button. But John was aware of the whole thing and grabbed it from him menacingly. That’s when he pulled out a syringe and his intentions became clear.

John made it known that he had thought of how to kill him, telling Aidan he wanted to do it in a painless way. But when Cathleen appeared at his house, he had to grab the closest thing to him.

He began to connect the syringe to the tubes, but right as he went to kill him, he realised he couldn’t actually go through with it. However, right at that moment, Aidan went into cardiac arrest.

By this point Aaron had arrived at the hospital, and was speaking to Cathleen. John appeared and told them that they managed to save Aidan – but he’s back in a coma (convenient for John!).

Aaron was fuming at his other-half for going there on their wedding day. And accused him of being in love with Aidan. Not wanting to be the other man, Aaron decided to call of the wedding.

Do Aaron and John get married in Emmerdale?

But spoilers show that things don’t stay negative for John in Emmerdale much longer.

John manages to track Aaron down and tells him that Aidan is his past.

Aaron remains silent until John has finished saying everything he has to say, so he can fully decide what he wants to do.

In the end, Aaron decides that he does want to be with John despite what had happened. So the pair agree the wedding is back on.

Together, they finally head to the venue, much to everyone’s relief.

But the big question is just how long will John’s secrets stay hidden? And will anything else stop them from saying ‘I do’?

Gone on ITV: What is the haunting music played in the closing minutes of emotional final episode?

Gone on ITV comes to a beautifully nuanced ending, and the final scene between grieving Michael and Alana Polly was beautifully done – with thanks largely to the music used.
