As John decides to not do a runner, do he and Aaron get married? Everything we know

John was haunted by nightmares

In Emmerdale tonight, it was the start of John and Aaron’s wedding day. And things didn’t exactly go to plan.

Wedding days are never smooth sailing in soaps. But when you add in a secret murder threatening to be revealed, and an ex-boyfriend waking up from a three-year coma, it is quite intense.

That’s exactly how the start of the day was for John. While he may have decided not to do a runner right now, will he actually make it down the aisle to marry Aaron?

John spent the morning haunted by his past

In the opening scene, John and Aaron were already at the alter. But when the officiant asked if anyone objects – PC Swirling arrives and arrests John.

But this turned out to be just a daydream. Because in reality, John managed to escape the truth about Nate coming out – again.

Once he heard the lake dredge was happening today, he tried to pack his bags and leave before anyone noticed. But what he didn’t know is that Aaron was standing right behind him.

The couple talked, with John trying to convince Aaron they don’t need a big wedding (bit late!). But then Aaron told him he doesn’t “believe in bad luck” and John eased – we have a feeling Aaron may believe in bad luck soon.

While he promised he would be at the wedding, as soon as Aaron left, John got his bag and drove to the lake, preparing to leave for good. But that’s when his luck changed.

He overheard Moira getting told that the lake dredging had been halted. Meaning once again, John got away with the discovery of Nate’s body – and now he can get married.

But his luck started to run out again as Cathleen was waiting for him outside his house. And when she heard he was getting married, she was furious with him. She told him Aidan’s first words were “John” and that he needs him. So will John make it to the alter?

All we know about Emmerdale John and Aaron’s wedding

John continues to be plagued by nightmares, as he has another vision of Aidan interrupting the ceremony. But when he snaps back into reality, he promises Cathleen he will visit Aidan. But Aaron spots them leaving, and decides to follow.

When Aaron sees John at Aidan’s bedside he fears he still loves him and tells him the wedding is off. John has yet another vision of Aaron backing out of the wedding because he doesn’t trust him. But back in reality,  Aaron gets in his car and drives away.

John manages to track him down, and insists that he only wants him. After hearing him out, Aaron decides that the wedding is back on.

The pair finally arrive at the venue, and look set to say ‘I do’. But with John’s never-ending pile of secrets, whether or not they actually get to the vows remains to be seen.

But one thing is for sure, it’s not going to be a smooth day for either of the grooms.
