Cain and Charity Dingle are set to star in an emotional and dramatic Emmerdale two-hander on Wednesday March 25 after tonight saw Cain spiral out of control.

Actor Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain, has revealed we can expect big twists in the episode, so what’s coming up?

Cain snapped tonight

Tuesday March 24 was a rough old day for Cain. He was badgered into attending the prostate support group. Once there the group leader was less than warm and another member made things 10 times worse. He told Cain it was affecting his marriage and his wife was just looking for an opportunity to leave him.

His greatest fears put into words, Cain couldn’t stomach it and left before the session started.

At the Woolpack drowing his sorrows, Mackenzie arrived and said he had bad news. His mate with the cattle wasn’t happy about selling it to them and they couldn’t afford a whole herd anyway.

Then Claudette started banging on about her brother who died of prostate cancer. She mentioned he failed to cut back on drinking and take care of himself. Cain wasn’t impressed with the interferring.

Finally, Sam arrived and Cain discovered he’d forgotten his meeting about the farm machinery. Cain went nuts, he screamed that the farm idea was done and grabbed Sam violently. But Sam refused to hit back because Cain has cancer.

It was the final straw for Cain who went home and hit the bottle. Charity followed him and wanted answers.

Cain tried to throw her out, but Charity refused: “I’m getting comfortable because we’re not going anywhere until you tell me what’s going on in that horrible little head of yours,” she said, settling down in Zak’s chair.

Emmerdale two-hander between Cain and Charity

Tomorrow night sees a special episode in which only Cain and Charity will star.

Trying to ignore Charity, Cain continues drinking. But as she pushes him to stop and look after his health, he gets angry and throws the bottle. It ends up breaking Zak’s tankard, which is devastating.

Charity continues to push, however. Cain finally admits he can’t cope. He is failing to keep Moira’s life going for when she gets out of prison.

Wanting a distraction from everything, Cain reminisces about their old relationship. He then makes a pass at Charity.

But she sees what he’s playing at. Will she reject him?

Jeff Hordley promises twists in Cain and Charity Emmerdale episode

In a recent interview with Emmerdale Insider and other press, Jeff Hordley revealed what we can expect from the episode.

“They’ve written this episode with those two characters and their history in mind,” he said.

“There’s a lot of twists and turns in the episode, but ultimately Charity’s there for Cain and he’s there for her as well.”

Jeff also added that his own performance is a testament to his co-stars. “I always say this, but I’m really lucky and feel very grateful that throughout my time on this show, I’ve always been surrounded by really strong female actresses, you know, from Emma Atkins to Natalie J Robb to Lucy Pargeter to Charley Webb, and now Katie Hill. I’ve always got these strong females around me who make it a breeze.”
