Has Carla killed Becky? What happens next as she turns the tables on her kidnapper

Carla has been at Becky's mercy.

Unbeknownst to the other Coronation Street residents, Becky Swain has been keeping Carla Connor tied up in a cupboard. But tonight, Carla managed to get herself free. Has she killed Becky in the process?

Although the likes of Roy Cropper were originally suspicious over Carla’s whereabouts, it is now believed that she is on her travels. Though the truth of course is that Becky kidnapped her and kept her tied up in the airing cupboard of her flat.

Tonight (December 29), things started to unravel for Becky, as Kit Green got a bit closer to the truth and Carla managed to free herself from the shackles using shards of a broken plate.

Becky continued to torment Carla

As Carla begged Becky for her medication, Becky cruelly told her that her meds are a privilege not a right. When Carla remarked that Becky was playing with her life, she responded: “I know, fun, isn’t it?”

Becky then proceeded to tell Carla that her and Lisa Swain had enjoyed a nice romantic evening in which they drunk Carla’s bottle of Albarino, that she had been saving for a special occasion.

Not to be worn down easily, Carla pointed out that it wasn’t a fair fight and that once Lisa knows the truth she would obviously pick her. Becky insisted that wasn’t true. But Carla’s words clearly got to her, and when Carla asked Becky why she has to “hog-tie the competition” if she is so sure Lisa wants her, Becky saw red.

Becky screamed at Carla for ruining her life and threw a plate, which hit the wall next to Carla’s head and shattered into pieces. These shards came in handy for Carla later…

Kit grew suspicious of Carla’s whereabouts

Sarah continued to work extra hours to cover Carla’s absence at the factory. She told Kit that it was really unlike Carla not to be in touch at all.

As he flicked through Carla’s diary, he came across an entry with the words: “Hill. Rhubarb.” Telling Sarah it was something to do with Costello, he explained that he doesn’t actually know what it means.

Later, in the Rovers, Kit asked Betsy if she had heard from Carla. Betsy said she spoke to Carla on Christmas Day and mentioned that the hotel Carla is staying at is called Rhubarb Hill.

Kit looked up the hotel online and called them to check if Carla was there. It appeared to check out, but then Becky was seen chatting on the phone, in which she said: “Looks like he took the bait, no don’t take the website down. We need everyone to believe that hotel exists.”

Has Carla killed Becky?

After Becky opened the cupboard door once again, a now free Carla launched herself at Becky. She pushed Becky, who stumbled backwards before falling down and hitting her head on a table – which knocked her unconscious.

But has Carla killed Becky? Well, the answer to that is no.

Spoilers for the rest of the week reveal that a desperate Becky pushes on with her plan to flee with Lisa and Betsy. However, with Kit continuing to dig, she is running out of time.

Kit checks in with Asha, asking her to find out who accompanied Costello in the ambulance. Asha later tells Kit that according to her colleague, Costello kept repeating 3 words. Kit realises it’s a three word location reference. But Becky manages to get to Costello first, and he covers things up when Kit visits him.

Meanwhile, Lisa tells Becky that she will move to Spain with her but she wants to see Carla first and tell her the news in person. As Betsy and Lauren hang out at No.6, Becky decides it’s time to speed things up with horrifying consequences!

We also have Corriedale – the special Emmerdale and Coronation Street crossover episode – coming up next week, in which Lisa, Carla, Betsy and Becky will all feature.

Strictly Come Dancing will be exploding back our screens this autumn with a brand new celebrity line-up.

The official cast of famous faces is yet to be announced by the BBC but there are already plenty of names in the mix.

From soap stars to TV presenters and even an Olympian, the list is already long.

Stacey Solomon

As a result, her name has been rumoured for this year's series.

In April, it was reported that Stacey had been approached by Strictly bosses who were keen to sign her to the show. It was claimed BBC producers have been impressed with the positive viewer reaction to her shows, Sort Your Life Out and Stacey & Joe.

Stacey, 35, previously said of Strictly: "I am obsessed with it, I’m obsessed with the costumes. And also I would love to learn a new skill like that. I love learning anything to be honest."

However, she went on to tell Metro she has "two left feet' and "no rhythm" when it comes to dancing.

The actor is famed for playing Paul Robinson in the Australian soap for four decades and has a fond love of the UK.

Stefan met his actress wife Gail Easdale in pantomime in 2000 and they tied the knot at Borthwick Castle in Midlothian. He previously described Scotland as his and his family's "second home" after living there for 12 years. The couple have three children.

It has been claimed Stefan has signed on the dotted line for Strictly, with bosses thinking he will "bring in the ratings" due to his popularity with British Neighbours fans.

Thomas Skinner

[Credit: SplashNews.com][/caption]Bosh! Former Apprentice star Thomas Skinner is swapping the boardroom for the ballroom, according to reports. The cockney businessman, whose catchphrase is "bosh", is said to gearing up to ditch his boring suits in favour of sparkles.

Thomas found fame on the 2019 series of the BBC show The Apprentice. As a candidate, he impressed Lord Alan Sugar with his non nonsense approach and straight talking. He owned mattress and memory foam pillow company at the time but had started his career as a market trader.

Lord Sugar fired Thomas in Week 9 of The Apprentice but his ties with the BBC have remained. He's since appeared on Celebrity MasterChef and is now believed to be about to hit the Strictly dance floor.

The Mirror has reported that Thomas has agreed to do Strictly because his "mum would love it", with an insider adding: "Strictly bosses are hoping he'll get the dad's watching. He has a massive following, especially with working-class blokes."

Tom Parker-Bowles

[caption id="attachment_4480" align="alignnone" width="1500"]Tom Parker Bowles at Channel Nine red carpet Could Tom Parker Bowles bring a touch of royalty to the ballroom? [Credit: Cover Images][/caption]Queen Camilla's son Tom Parker Bowles could be set to add a royal twist to this year's Strictly. The world-renowned food writer and critic is already a regular on BBC MasterChef and has been touted for the line-up. It is also claimed Queen Camilla is an avid fan of the show.

Tom, 50, is yet to address the whispers directly but former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips has shared her thoughts.

During an appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain, Arlene said: "I think, today royalty doesn't quite have the reverence that it had. So we think of Tom Parker Bowles as just someone who cooks, I think, and is fabulous.

"You don't really connect him to royalty, and he'll just be on there, if he's on, working like everybody else, to try to win."

Balvinder Sopal

[Credit: BBC][/caption]Strictly Come Dancing has seen its fair share of EastEnders cast members trying their luck on the show over the years. Actress Balvinder Sopal is the latest cast member believed to be following in their footsteps.

Balvinder, 46, is best known for playing Suki Panesar in the BBC soap and was recent involved in a massive storyline. Her character Suki was one of the infamous 'Six' who covered up the murder of mechanic Keanu Taylor.

It has now been claimed Balvinder is hoping to show Strictly viewers a different side to her each week.

Ashley Cain

Earlier this year, Ashley visited some of the world's most dangerous places to live as a young man for BBC Three's Into The Danger Zone.

Ashley is a former football player and his first television appearance was on MTV's Ex On The Beach. He was later pushed to the limits on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4. Ashley took part in the gruelling show to honour his baby daughter Azaylia, who died from a rare form of leukaemia in 2021.

Azaylia was just eight months old when she passed away and Ashley, 34, has said he would love to appear on Strictly in memory of her.

He previously told The Sun: "When I had my daughter in hospital when she was poorly, any time that she used to be feeling poorly or she was going through a chemotherapy, I used to hold her in my arms and I used to dance with her.

"And I'd dance with her for hours and hours and hours and hours. So something like Strictly would relate to me in a sense where I would love to do a Lion King-themed dance."

Angellica Bell

In fact, the odds are so high on her gracing our screens that betting agent William Hill have suspended bets.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps tells TVGuide: "The Strictly Come Dancing rumour mill continues to turn and some recent reports have forced our hand to remove Angellica Bell from our market on who will appear in the next series.

“Bell was well-fancied to take part later this year and reports that she is in discussions with the producers mean we are no longer taking bets on her participation."

Angellica, 49, was a co-host on The Martin Lewis Money Show from 2017 to 2023. Earlier this year, she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother.

Paul C Brunson

[Credit: YouTube/ We Need To Talk][/caption]Relationship guru Paul C Brunson is believed to be in the running for Strictly. The American star has been tipped as "a real tonic" to the show due to his clean-cut nature.

Paul, 50, is best known for Married At First Sight and Celebs Go Dating. His podcast, We Need To Talk, is also hugely popular. More recently, Paul fronted Netflix's Cheat: Unfinished Business with Amanda Holden.

It has been reported that Paul has met with Strictly bosses "a number of times".

Dani Dyer

[caption id="attachment_4534" align="alignnone" width="1500"]Dani Dyer on the red carpet at the Brit Awards Dani Dyer is among the rumoured Strictly names [Credit: Cover Images][/caption]TV personality Dani Dyer could also be slipping into a pair of ballroom shoes this September, as whispers of her signing up to Strictly are rife.

Dani is the daughter of EastEnders star and Rivals actor Danny Dyer and she found fame in 2018 Love Island. The 28-year-old now co-hosts a podcast with her famous dad, called Live and Let Dyers.

This summer, the mum-of-three married England and West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen and was pictured dancing with her dad at the reception. A dance or two in the Strictly ballroom would be the icing on the cake for her year.

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey - aka Nitro

[caption id="attachment_4464" align="alignnone" width="1500"]Harry Aikines-Aryeetey Gladiator Nitro is hoping to try his luck for a second time [Credit: BBC][/caption]Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey has already given Strictly fans a peek of his dancing skills.

Last year, Harry - aka Nitro - took part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special. The 36-year-old former Olympic sprinter wowed viewers of the special festive episode, especially with his strong muscles. He was able to lift pro dancer Nancy Xu high above his head during their routine.

Nitro sadly just missed out on the Glitterball Trophy. It was drag artist Tayce and pro dancer Kai Widderington who were crowned the winners.

But he is rumoured to now be eyeing up a second chance on Strictly following his impressive debut.

Vicky Pattison

[caption id="attachment_4854" align="alignnone" width="1500"]Vicky Pattison at the TV BAFTAs Vicky Pattison supported Pete Wicks on Strictly last year [Credit: Sue Andrews/Cover Images][/caption]Reality TV star Vicky Pattison is no stranger to the Strictly ballroom. Last year, she was in the audience supporting her good friend and Celebrity Gogglebox co-star Pete Wicks on the show. And it was here where she is said to have impressed bosses.

Vicky, who found fame on MTV show Geordie Shore, apparently caught the eye of Strictly producers when cheering Pete and his dance partner Jowita Przystał on. Geordie Shore star Abbie Holborn previously claimed the cast were "banned" from Strictly, so it seems Vicky would be an exception. Since appearing on the show in 2011, she has worked hard to shake off her links to the show. By 2019, with her image overhauled, the BBC signed her for Celebrity MasterChef.

Speaking about Strictly, Vicky previously told The Sun: "I've done my fair share of reality TV and I'd never say never to anything but I'm not a dancer, at all."

Georgia Toffolo

[caption id="attachment_4902" align="alignnone" width="1500"]Toff at Cheltenham Festival Opening Georgia Toffolo wouldn't be doing Strictly for the money [Credit: John Rainford][/caption]Former Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo will certainly bring some extra glamour to the ballroom. Georgia is said to have been in talks with Strictly producers, as they believe she would be "popular" with viewers.

Since finding fame on E4's MIC, Georgia has forged herself a successful career in the media. She won I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! in 2017 and regularly appears on This Morning. Georgia is an author, has a dog food company and runs her own talent agency.

In March this year, Georgia married BrewDog co-founder James Watt. As a result, she is now 304 in the Sunday Times Rich List 2025, thanks to a fortune of £425m. It's fair to say Georgia wouldn't be doing Strictly for the money.
