Has Dotty Thomas been recast? Actress Tilly Rue Foster makes a return to Emmerdale
Dotty is being taken in by Gabby's healthy eating campaignDotty Thomas made a return to screens tonight in Emmerdale, looking very different to the last time we saw her.
So much so, in fact, that it has left questions of whether the character has been recast.
As is tradition with soap kids, she hasn’t appeared much on screen since she was born in 2016. She was last seen fleetingly in March of this year when Laurel was pushed over by son Arthur.
However when she appeared on Friday (October 2) she had a much bigger role than she’s had before. So who is Dotty? And who plays her?
Who is Dotty Thomas in Emmerdale and how old is she?
Dotty Thomas is the daughter of Laurel Thomas and Ashley Thomas. She was named after Ashley’s mother, Dorothy Thomas.
She was born in on September 2 2016, making her 10 years old. When she was only seven months old, her father Ashley died.
She is the younger half-sister of Gabby Thomas and younger sister of Arthur Thomas. She is little Thomas Tate’s auntie, although they are closer in age than Dotty and Gabby!
On Friday (October 2), Dotty appeared in scenes in the café where she and Clemmie were watching one of Gabby’s social media videos. Dotty started parroting what Gabby was spouting about clean eating to a worried Manpreet.
She told her not to eat the donut Kev had given her, saying it had “UFOs in”. She meant UPFs (Ultra Processed Foods), which Gabby had been saying were bad.
Next week, Laurel will discover that Dotty has seen the videos and will be concerned about the impact they’ve had on her daughter. Meanwhile, Gabby collapses, having taken the clean eating too far.
She has been diagnosed with orthorexia and her body is serverely malnourished. But has her obsession affected more than just her own health? Is Dotty in danger too?
Who plays Dotty?
Dotty’s appearance tonight has made us do a double take. When did she get so big?! And is it a different actress playing her?
When Dotty was first born, she was played by two actresses: Ellerie Carroll and Tilly Rue Foster.
Ellerie left the role in 2016 however Tilly Rue is still playing Dotty. So she has not been recast, she has just grown up – a lot!
Tilly Rue was born in July 2016, making her 10, the same age as her character.
