'Axe this format immediately!' I’m A Celebrity viewers slam ITV for ‘ripping off’ The Traitors

Fans don't like the shake-up

I’m A Celebrity South Africa viewers are extremely unhappy with Tuesday night’s ending, as the show unusually ended on a cliffhanger.

Fans of the show are used to the show airing live on their screens every year. So, the fact that the all-stars series is pre-recorded was already gathering mixed reviews.

However, Tuesday night ended in a huge cliffhanger, something which never usually happens on the show. And many fans were left fuming, and some even noticed the similarities to the hit BBC show The Traitors.

I’m A Celebrity ended on a cliffhanger

During last night’s episode, the iconic Gemma Collins made her arrival into camp. And it’s safe to say she was amazing entertainment from the very start. It was quite the relief to fans who were worried the series may be a little dull this year!

Gemma and fellow newcomer Craig Charles had just battled it our during their first trial of the series. But then, a shock cliffhanger followed.

Both stars had decided how much they were going to eat in order to win points for their team. It all came down to that one final showdown.

However, just as Ant and Dec kicked it off, the show came to an abrupt ending – something which I’m A Celebrity fans are not used to.

Fans fume over show’s new format

Many took to social media to slam ITV for the cliffhanger decision, with a few even comparing it to the BBC show The Traitors, which would very often leave fans on a cliffhanger.

One penned: “What the [bleep]? Axe this pre-recorded format immediately. What do you mean ending the episode on a cliffhanger in the middle of a trial?”

Another added: “That’s a terrible cliffhanger. I was looking forward to seeing if Gemma overcame her fears.”

“Cliffhanger! Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode!” a third penned.

Another believed ITV were trying to get the same success as The Traitors, ending with a cliffhanger to encourage people to come back again.

They wrote: “I’m A Celeb editors saw the cliffhanger that The Traitors pulled on the second to last episode.”

With the whole show already finished filming, and reports of quite a few feuds taking place, it seems that fans should unfortunately expect there will probably be a few more cliffhangers on the way.
