Jimmy and Nicola's first Emmerdale wedding went VERY wrong after she bit a child, here's what happened

The drama saw a chaotic and comedic wedding day for the pair and as Nicola reminisces tonight (Thursday August 20) about what a complete disaster the day was, we’ve been searching our brains to remember what exactly happened.
Here’s the lowdown so you don’t have to do the same.
On-off romance in Emmerdale
Nicola began a relationship with Jimmy King, the eldest of the three King sons in 2009. Initially they slept together in the back of a haulage truck after drowning their sorrows in the pub. But Nicola was embarrassed and rebuffed his attempts at a relationship.
They fell into bed together again and when Rodney mentioned Jimmy might have money locked away in a Swiss bank account, Nicola decided to pursue a relationship with him after all. But Jimmy then realised she was a gold digger and humiliated her.
However, the pair couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Soon afterwards, she found out she was pregnant with his child. Nicola and Jimmy were not together at the time and she considered both an abortion and adoption.
Talked out of it by Laurel, Nicola got back with Jimmy, they moved into Mill Cottage and looked forward to the arrival of their baby.
Tragedy struck when Nicola and Lexi King rowed and Nicola fell down the stairs. Although she and the baby were okay, Nicola went into premature labour a few days later. She then gave birth to daughter Angelica.
Which child did Nicola bite in Emmerdale?
After all the drama surrounding Angelica’s birth, you’d think Jimmy and Nicola would be spared when it came to their wedding. Wrong!
In the weeks before the ceremony in June 2010, Nicola became embroiled in a feud with Viv Hope. Viv’s daughter, Cathy, bit Angelica and horrified at seeing what Cathy had done, Nicola bit her back to teach her a lesson.
Viv was furious and immediately reported Nicola to the police for assaulting her daughter. Nicola was charged and a court date was set. Unfortunately, the date was the same as Nicola and Jimmy’s wedding day.
Wedding woes for Jimmy and Nicola in Emmerdale
Nicola wanted to cancel, but Jimmy insisted they would get married no matter what the outcome of the court case. On the day, Nicola encountered Viv in the toilets at court and genuinely apologised. Viv then softened and told the court she hadn’t thought it would go this far and had just wanted to teach Nicola a lesson. Nicola was let off with probation.
She then faced a race against time to get to her wedding. She hurriedly changed into her dress in the loos, but then discovered the wedding car was clamped.
They all bundled into a van – Nicola in the front with Viv driving, Jimmy, Rodney and Paul in the back. Nicola told Viv to flaw it and they raced to the church.
They made it to the church just in time to exchange vows in a rushed ceremony in which Nicola was stunned to see Jimmy wearing a kilt!
Testing times for the Kings
Jimmy and Nicola have found themselves tested in their marriage on many occasions. Firstly when Kelly Windsor returned, trying to get back together with Jimmy.
He refused and she ended up knocking him out and he got amnesia. He couldn’t remember wife Nicola and daughter Angelica and Kelly convinced him they were having an affair and he was about to leave Nicola for her.
Eventually Jimmy got his memory back – but Kelly left him with their son, Elliot, who she’d given birth to after leaving Emmerdale years before.
Crisis also struck when Jimmy became a dad again – to Carl Jnr. He was conceived by a mix-up at the sperm bank where Jimmy had donated before he met Nicola.
Nicola and Jimmy’s marriage was in trouble once again when he grew close to Mandy Dingle. Mandy and Nicola had a fight in the street, but ultimately Jimmy stuck with Nicola.
Devastation struck once again when they had to support their daughter after she went joyriding and killed Heath Hope.
Death for Jimmy as he and Nicola plan a second wedding in Emmerdale
Currently Jimmy and Nicola are planning to renew their vows. But it’s unlikely to go smoothly the second time either with Jimmy clearly keeping big secrets. Not only that, but it’s been reported that Jimmy is exiting Emmerdale and he will die.
The Sun reported earlier this year Jimmy, played by Nick Miles since 2004, is leaving in dramatic scenes.
Although no official confirmation has appeared from Emmerdale, the story reports that his exit will tie in with ex-wife Sadie’s return to the village.
A source told the publication: “Everyone is shocked and it shows that no one is safe from the budget cuts.
“Bosses are under pressure to cut costs and sadly that means popular cast members being told their time is up.”
They added: “Once the decision was made that Nick would be leaving, the writers quickly realised his character wouldn’t abandon his wife and children so they had to kill him off.
“That’s what made them approach Patsy about returning.”
Jimmy is the last remaining of the four King brothers after Matthew, Carl and Max were also all killed off. Their dad Tom King also met his maker in a huge whodunnit.
