Love Is Blind star Santiago Martínez has been jailed for attempting to murder his ex girlfriend who he married on the show.

Martínez, 30, has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars following the terrifying attack on Emily Ceco.

The self-proclaimed entrepreneur pinned Emily down in an attack, attempted to ‘choke’ her and left her with black eyes, a court heard.

Emily met Martínez on the 2024 series of Netflix’s Love Is Blind Argentina. The couple formed a connection in the pods before Martínez got down on one knee and proposed.

By the end of the series, the pair went through with their civil service wedding in front of the cameras.

However, in February 2025, Martínez attacked Emily shortly before they held a second wedding for family and friends.

Emily is said to have returned home from her Bachelorette party when Martínez attacked her at their home. She called off the wedding and reported him to the police.

Martínez was issued with a restraining order preventing him from contacting Emily. Once the allegations became public, Netflix removed scenes of their romance and wedding from the streaming service.

Emily has now issued a statement after the sentencing of Martínez. However, she admits she is fearful about her safety once he is released from prison.

‘Justice has been done’

Emily told local press in Argentina: “I can’t believe it. I feel it’s over, I’m finally going to have peace. Justice has been done.”

The brave star came face-to-face with Martínez during the reading of his defence statement in court and was left “shaking”.

She said of the moment: “My whole body was shaking. I was terrified. During his statement, he apologised and said he still loved me.

“I didn’t respond, but my brother went too far and told him, ‘If you loved her so much, why did you almost kill her? You beat her up – coward’.”

Speaking about her concerns for the future, Emily added: “I have 15 years of peace ahead. I don’t know what will happen when he gets out, but I hope the justice system continues to protect me.

“If he tried to kill me when I gave him everything, I can’t imagine what he might do to me or my family after 15 years of anger.”
