Viewers questioned why he was 'allowed' in the studioMorning Live viewers have shared their concern for Nick Stapleton after it was revealed on air that he was sick.

But this week, Nick is not in good form – and viewers have been left demanding to know why he was on Morning Live and not at home in bed.

Morning Live’s Nick Stapleton appears on BBC show unwell
Nick was introduced to viewers as part of Morning Live’s guest panel on Monday (October 12, 2026).
Host Holly Hamilton asked him: “You okay, you alright?” Nick replied: “Just about, yeah.”
Holly explained: “Nick’s got a bit of a sniffle.” Her co-star, Gethin Jones, called Nick ‘Sniffle Stapleton’ and told him: “You’re a warrior coming into work, we’re proud of you.”
Nick was sat next to TV doctor, Dr Xand, and he mused that his presence was the reason he had come into work.
But Dr Xand bluntly put paid to that.
He said: “That’s literally what we tell people not to do. If you’re sick, stay at home. But anyway. Good job, Nick.”
Dr Xand then added: “You can’t catch it through the telly, at least…”
Nick had been called in to Morning Live to warn viewers about a new phone scam. But viewers couldn’t get past his appearance and constant sniffing.
‘Why is this allowed?’
Taking to X, many were quick to ask why Nick had gone into the Morning Live studio at the BBC’s Media City in Manchester.
“On @morninglive, the scam guy is sitting there with 5 other presenters (one is a Dr). He is full of cold/ flu. Looks shocking. Why is this allowed/ tolerated,” one viewer asked.
“The very minimum he could wear a mask. But better still to set a good example and send him home.”

Another asked: “Where has Zoom gone? Working from home should still be an option.”
A third questioned: “How could the Dr be part of that? Work before health. It sends the wrong signals.”
Someone else wrote: “Yeah it was shocking.” And a fifth remarked: “Nothing responsible is he!!”
Providing Nick did not have a temperature, he was following NHS guidance for the common cold.
The NHS states: “If you have a high temperature or do not feel well enough to do your normal activities, try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until you feel better.”
That being said, we expect half the panel will have it by next week… Good luck all!
