Will Paradise season 3 be the show's last? Everything we know as we await Disney+ sci-fi drama's return

No pressure, Xavier, but the fate of the world now rests in your hands.

Paradise season 3 is officially on its way – with Sterling K Brown’s Xavier on a quest to save the world. Warning: spoilers for season 2’s ending ahead.

This poor man can’t catch a break. He spent most of season 2 navigating a barren world to find and rescue his wife, Teri, and bring her back to the safety of the underground bunker.

He’s also been framed for assassinating his friend, President Cal Bradford, survived a plane crash, and became the ward to a newborn baby after its mother died in his arms during childbirth.

After one final run-in with a lonely mailman desperate to keep Teri with him, Xavier successfully reunited Teri with their children, Presley and James. Now the safe bunker’s been blown up in a nuclear blast. He’s had approximately four hours of peace since this series began. But now he’s got to face his biggest task yet: track down a super computer, and save all humanity.

Here’s everything you need to know about the future (and the past) of Paradise, and when to expect season 3.

Does Paradise season 3 have a release date?

Hulu/Disney+ confirmed Paradise season 3 in March 2026 – two weeks before we saw the finale.

Creator Dan Fogelman shared via Instagram on March 21st the scripts were also completed.

Filming commences in April, with Fogelman telling LA Times he hoped season 3 would arrive “even quicker” than season 2 did.

What will happen in season 3?

Season 2 ended with Sinatra (Julianne Nicholson) sacrificing herself to blow up the bunker she created. However, it came with a massive catch for Xavier.

Before she died, she shared with him there was a second bunker, hidden under the depths of Denver airport. The bunker contains Alex: a quantum super computer able to experience and time differently than a mortal brain.

As a result, it’s had an impact on the past and future – and could stop the world from extinction.

She tasked him to get to it and complete what she started to save the planet. While he was unsure, she was convinced he will – because somewhere within time and space, he’s already done it.

The sci-fi nature of the series has always been a secondary factor to its very human story. However, it’s no longer lurking in the background, and will be thrust into the forefront for our heroes in the next leg. Fogelman confirms he intends to “play with time” in Paradise season 3.

Hints of Alex’s capability were present throughout season 2. It sent a message to a Radio City employee in 1997 – triggering a chain of events that turned Jane into a psychopathic assassin. Link, the leader of a renegade group of survivors outside the bunker, was revealed to be the adult (and alive) version of Sinatra’s dead son, Dylan.

So the possibilities of what it can do now are endless. Will it bring back people from the dead? Like Jane, or even Annie?

Will this be the end of Paradise?

Throughout the show’s run, the team has repeatedly noted they had a “three-season arc” in mind. So the upcoming Paradise season 3 would bring that arc to a close.

“I have a plan for three seasons of the show. Without giving away too much, each season of the show is a slightly different show, within the same show with the same characters,” Fogelman told Hollywood Reporter in January 2025.

Executive producer and writer John Hoberg has also been clear with the show’s intentions. In a separate interview with the same outlet in February 2026, he noted: “We know what the end is, and it’s an end that would make it very difficult to make a season 4 come afterward.”

While he admitted there was “pressure” to continue the story further, he added: “I try to resist [it] because I think it’s the right way to tell the story.”

In March 2026, he explicitly confirmed that season 3 will end Paradise’s story.

“It feels like the right way to end the show,” he told Collider. “Where it wants to end versus, ‘Okay, well, let’s just keep going.'”

He said he’s glad the show will end on its own terms, and promised season 3 will “answer all our questions”.

Paradise season 3 cast: Who’ll be back?

Sterling K Brown is, naturally, going to be back as our main hero Xavier for Paradise season 3. He will almost definitely be joined by Thomas Doherty, who plays Link and is the creator of Alex.

While there’s been no cast confirmations so far, most of the main cast will likely be back. This includes Enuka Okuma (Teri), Sarah Shahi (Gabriela Torabi), Aliyah Mastin (Presley), Krys Marshall (Robinson) and Charlie Evans (Jeremy). All of their characters were alive at the end of season 2.

Given Fogelman’s love of flashbacks and Alex’s capabilities, there’s plenty of reason to believe even dead favourites will be back. After all, President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) died in the first episode of the show, but has maintained a consistent presence.

With this in mind, people like Sinatra, Geiger and Annie are back on the table.

Jane’s (Nicole Brydon Bloom) fate in particular is something to note. Gabriela stabbed her in the back and left her to die in the shower in episode 7. However, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in the finale, the shower was empty.

Did she not succumb to her wounds like we first thought? If not… Gabriela is in real trouble now.
