Prison Wives of TikTok is a wild new documentary series about a handful of female influencers who have fallen for men serving time behind bars – and they are cashing in on it.

Four of the British ladies have struck up romantic relationships with male convicts who are currently locked up in the US.

A fifth is also ‘dating’ a man elsewhere in the world who was jailed for a serious crime.

But while some might frown upon their unconventional life choices, others are absolutely captivated.

And either way, the women are laughing all the way to the bank.

By documenting the highs and lows of dating convicted criminals, these women are now all social media stars.

They’re even being offered lucrative brand partnerships, earning themselves a tidy living.

If you are finding this all too much to believe, you need to tune into Prison Wives of TikTok.

Here’s everything we know, including where to watch it and when it’s on. Because, quite frankly, you don’t want to miss it.

Prison Wives of TikTok: New documentary series

Prison Wives of TikTok isn’t just a one-off documentary. Oh no, it’s an entire series.

There’s so much to pack into this fascinating topic that UKTV has given it five hour-long episodes!

Each of the women will be laying bear their relationships with viewers, while explaining how they have also turned their unusual romantic situations into a business.

What started out as prison wives seeking each other for support has now turned into fully-fledged friendships and a money-making scheme to boot.

The documentary will delve into how the ladies have built their on and offline communities, while revealing the highs and lows of dating long-distance lags.

Several will even be seen embarking on a Stateside road trip to meet their boyfriends behind bars. And of course, every single move will be documented on TikTok. Obviously!

Kirsty Hanson, senior commissioning editor at UKTV, says: “Prison Wives of TikTok shines a light on a jaw dropping subculture.

“There have been women that have corresponded with prisoners for decades, but for these women to turn this into a revenue stream with brand partnerships and millions of followers, is a fascinating modern twist.

“High stakes and high drama are the stuff of their every day; marrying, moving continents and what happens after their release make for a ‘can’t look away’ heightened reality-doc series that I’m hugely excited about bringing to U.”

When does Prison Wives of TikTok start?

The great news is, although Prison Wives of TikTok is currently being filmed, it will air this side of Christmas.

UKTV has confirmed the series will be available to watch later in 2026. It will air on both the U&W channel, but it will also be available to stream on U.

It remains to be seen if these ladies’ love stories have a happy ending. But either way, it will make great content for the #prisonwives!
