Sarah Platt was revealed to be the true killer of Theo during tonight’s visit to Coronation Street (Monday, June 22).

In shock flashback scenes, viewers finally found out that Gary and Sarah were both involved in Todd’s abusive husband’s death.

While Gary helped her cover-up the murder, it was Sarah who bumped Theo off. But, where does this leave Sarah and her future on the cobbles?

Sarah killed Theo in Coronation Street

Kit Green had everything lined up for what he thought would be a perfect romantic dinner with Sarah. He even quietly hoped it might end with a proposal. But the mood shifted fast when Sarah bailed on their lunch plans to go and see Gary at the yard. Kit caught the frosty exchange between them and couldn’t help thinking something didn’t add up.

Things only got messier later at the pub when Sarah invited Todd and Summer along, prompting Kit to fire back by inviting Gary and Maria too. With the table suddenly packed and tensions rising, Maria stole the spotlight by raising a toast — before dropping the bombshell suggestion that Gary and Sarah had been secretly involved for weeks.

The drama tipped Sarah over the edge when she cut her hand on broken glass. This triggered flashbacks to April 23rd and the night Theo Silverton met his fate.

In the flashback, Sarah confronted Theo up on scaffolding. She lost her temper during a heated exchange, and struck him with a pole. This then sent him crashing to the ground. Panicking, she called Gary for help, who stepped in to cover things up.

Back in the present, Gary stormed out ready to spill everything to Maria, leaving Sarah bracing herself for the fallout.

Tina O’Brien teases Sarah’s future on soap following killer twist

With Sarah keeping one huge killer secret, she now risks Gary telling Maria everything about Theo’s murder. And, then, there’s the huge risk of prison to worry about too.

Speaking about Sarah’s future on the soap, Tina O’Brien has admitted that the direction of the storyline wasn’t clear yet. She said: “There was a lot of debate in the green room as soon as we were told there was going to be a murderer. A lot of people were playing Cluedo, first off some of the cast got told that they were involved in the storyline, but they weren’t the murderer. So by the time it got to me to go for my meeting, I was a bit like, I think it’s me!? But I genuinely didn’t worry, at the end of the day this job is incredible, but to be an actor is not necessarily a job for life. So, I just was really excited to be given the honour of being the murderer, and then hopefully, however it plays out, I’ll enjoy Sarah’s arc.

Perhaps, Sarah shouldn’t worry too much. After all, Gary’s killed in the past, and he’s still roaming free.

Kit and Sarah’s future at risk

One thing Sarah is extremely worried about though is her relationship with Kit, and Tina has hinted that the couple might be dead in the water: “It’s just constant guilt, guilt that she didn’t just call the police when it happened, guilt that Kit thinks it’s Gary, and she knows that she’s responsible for that. It’s guilt that a man has died, it’s guilt that Summer has spent time in prison. There’s a lot of guilt there and I think also, selfishly, she feels like she’s ruined her chance with Kit, because if he knows what she’s done, he might not want her anymore and she so wanted him to be her future.”

It seems that, if the truth does come out, Kit and Sarah are over. But, will Sarah end up going to prison?

Nicola and Dawn square up over Lucas and Carl fight in Emmerdale

Carl has been texting Clemmie for a few days now and it seems they are sweet on each other. But as they're only 10 and 11, Nicola and Dawn didn't think much of it.

However, tonight Nicola got a call to say Carl had been hit at school. Dawn then found out Lucas was the one who punched him.

Both mums got their kids home and tried to find out what had happened. But neither lad was talking. So Dawn dragged Lucas over to apologise.

But Carl still wasn't speaking and Lucas refused to say sorry. Nicola placed the blame firmly on Lucas, and that made Dawn angry. Both mothers were unable to calm the situation so Dawn left and Nicola promised to protect Carl whatever it costs.

Clemmie photos the reason for Lucas and Carl bust-up

All will be revealed on Friday when the police turn up to see the Kings and the Tates. They reveal that Clemmie has sent an indecent image of herself to Carl. Carl then shared it with his mates and somehow it's gone around the whole school.

Carl admits he did send the picture and the police take this sort of offence very seriously. Nicola is desperate to protect her boy and insists he's learned his lesson, but that's not good enough for the cops.

Dawn also wants this sorted via the official channels. But she does talk to Clemmie about it. When Clemmie reveals why she sent thr photo, Dawn is awash with guilt.

Dawn decides she and Nicola should talk mother to mother, but it doesn't go well. Nicola is defensive and the conversation becomes an argument.

Nicola turns to Laurel for support, but that then descends into a row too. Finally, they both discuss the situation and realise how out of touch they are over their kids' online habits. They agree they must work together to protect them from the dangers of the internet and social media.

Meanwhile, guilty Dawn opens up to Joe about her own past and how she was coerced into sex work and drugs. She vows to protect her kids in real life and online. But is it really that simple? And how can the families resolve this and move forward?
