Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is hiding a Stranger Things Easter egg you definitely missed
It's a blink-and-you'll-miss it Easter egg
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen isn’t set in the same universe as Stranger Things… but there is an Easter egg, if you look close enough.
It’s been nearly four months since Stranger Things came to its official – and absolute – end. ‘Conformity gate’ feels like a distant memory, and fans have started to accept its divisive conclusion.
Meanwhile, its creators, the Duffer Brothers, are executive producers on a new Netflix series: Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Created by Haley Z. Boston, it’s a horror story, following a bride-to-be in the lead-up to her (presumably) ill-fated nuptials.
Its connection to Stranger Things doesn’t go far beyond the Duffers’ involvement. However, keep your eyes peeled for a fun little reference to the series.

Stranger Things Easter egg in Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen
Towards the end of episode 2, Rachel and other members of the family gather in Jude’s room after a… mishap with her wedding dress.
The scene starts by scanning across Jude’s table, where we see some of his toys. Some of them are strange stick figures, and there are two mini-wrestlers (John Cena and Roman Reigns).
If you look closer, three small figures should look familiar. They’re meant to be Will, Mike, and Eleven. Unfortunately, they appear to be custom-made for the show, so don’t expect to find them online.
Speaking to Netflix, Boston confirmed there were “a few Stranger Things toys in Jude’s room”.

“Jude probably wants to be like Mike but really identifies with Will,” she said.

Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen has another big horror Easter egg
If you’re clued up on your horror movies, you should have noticed a big nod to Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead movies (particularly the first film and its sequel).
Later in the show, a mysterious force can be seen stalking Rachel and other members of the family. No spoilers, don’t worry, but the way these scenes are filmed is a clear homage to the Evil Dead franchise’s POV shots of the demon.
“I hope that people pick up on The Evil Dead shot with the ‘very bad POV’,” Boston confirmed.
“We drew inspiration from the famous shot from The Evil Dead and wanted to figure out our version of that.”
That’s not all. “We have some nods to Rosemary’s Baby in the storyline… then, of course, there’s a lot of blood… to bring in some touches of Carrie as well,” Boston explained.
“I referenced The Shining in the pilot when Rachel wears a T-shirt with Timberline Lodge on it, which is in Oregon.
“I grew up in Oregon and used to visit the Timberline Lodge frequently. In fact, when I was a kid, I used to say I wanted to get married there in the winter. It has this really striking look, and it’s the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.”
