Here’s what we know so far about Amy’s upcoming episode of Who Do You Think You Are?, including when it is on.

Amy Dowden on Who Do You Think You Are?

Amy says she decided to take part in Who Do You Think You Are? for her dad. His father Frank, who was unofficially adopted, had very little information about his birth family.

The dancer discovers the reason behind Frank’s adoption and she says it leaves her “quite emotional”. He was the only sibling of six to be given up and Amy says her father was left “really shocked and upset” by the findings.

There is also a potentially murderous story in Amy’s family tree. She’s determined to get to the bottom of it…

There are some other sad tales she uncovers along the way. Amy’s great, great, great aunt Elinor died aged 14 while on a farm in 1888. Amy is also shocked when she learns how her great grandmother died.

The BBC says it is “a painful shock to Amy, as she learns about a tale of bravery and hardship in a working-class mining family”.

Amy says: “I’ve found out so much information. I’m so proud of my family and everything they’ve been through, and everything they’ve done.

“And I think through learning so much about my dad’s side, I can definitely see traits in my dad that have filtered through to him – the work ethic and the morals for example.”

Amy adds: “And I think my granddad, Frank, who’s obviously no longer with us, should be so proud of where he comes from too.”
