Taylor Sheridan is back with a new Western TV show
The Madison, Taylor Sheridan’s new Western TV show, certainly feels like a Yellowstone series… but is it connected? This is what we know before it drops, and how to watch it wherever you are.
Sheridan is a television kingpin. He conquered the world with Yellowstone, scoring tens of millions of viewers globally across each season.
The flagship series may have come to an (unexpected) end, but he’s not done with the Duttons. Marshals, a spin-off revolving around Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton, is currently airing. Beth Dutton fans will be happy to know she’ll return in her own series, too.
So, where does that leave The Madison? It has a mega-watt star cast and, frankly, it looks like Yellowstone.
Is The Madison part of the Yellowstone franchise?
The Madison doesn’t connect to Yellowstone, nor does it include the Dutton storyline.
This wasn’t always the case. After news of Kevin Costner’s shock departure from Yellowstone and plans to end the series emerged, a spin-off was announced with a mysterious title: 2024.
It was originally a Yellowstone spin-off, though it always had a singular feel. As director Christina Alexandra Voros told Variety: “It’s such a different story. The common ground is the landscape.
“We are in Montana, but it is seen through a completely different lens, so it feels like another facet of this cut stone that has been polished.”

However, it’s now been confirmed by Paramount that it isn’t connected to Yellowstone. That said, it takes place in the Madison River valley… and in the Yellowstone finale, it was revealed that Beth and Rip would be moving to a new ranch outside of Dillon, Montana,
Those two areas are close by each other, so don’t completely rule out some sort of surprise crossover.
What is The Madison about?
Forget the Duttons, because The Madison follows New York’s Clyburn family as they relocate to Montana in the wake of a family tragedy.
It’s been billed as a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection” and “Sheridan’s most intimate work to date, unfolding across two distinct worlds – the beautiful landscape of Montana and the vibrant energy of Manhattan – as it examines the ties that bind families together”.
As for other plot details… you’ll just need to wait and see.
We can give you one other tease. Speaking to Dexerto, “There’s a lot the audience doesn’t know about The Madison.
“It does have some pretty serious shock value right up front… it’s just high end. Taylor Sheridan’s a really, really wonderful writer.”
Who’s in the cast?
Michelle Pfeiffer was the first star to be announced for The Madison, and she’ll play Stacy Clyburn alongside Kurt Russell as Preston Clyburn. The cast also includes:

How to watch The Madison
The Madison will be available to stream exclusively via Paramount+ in the UK.
However, it has an atypical release schedule. The first three episodes drop on the platform on Saturday, March 14, at 8am UK time, followed by the final three on Saturday, March 21.
