Is Joel leaving EastEnders? All we know as he's arrested for attacking Vicki

The police hauled Joel away

Joel Marshall faced the consequences of his attack on Vicki Fowler in EastEnders tonight (Monday, October 13), as the police arrested him. Joel was hiding out at the Slaters after running to Tommy for help – only for his dad and friend to turn him in.

And, as the police dragged Joel away, Vicki lay recovering from her severe injuries in hospital. But what does the future hold in store for Joel? And is actor Max Murray leaving the soap?

Here’s everything that happened in EastEnders tonight – and all we know about what happens next.

Vicki rushed to hospital in EastEnders tonight

In the wake of her beating from Joel, Vicki lay in a state on the kitchen floor. Outside, Ross ran into Joel and, uh, apologised for his earlier outburst.

“You are a good kid, Joel,” he reassured his son.

“I love you dad,” Joel responded, before lying to his dad that he was out meeting a friend. Seemingly satisfied, Ross left his teenage son there, out on the street, after dark, hours after learning he’d assaulted a schoolmate.

In The Vic, Joel remained the talk of the town. As Priya harangued Julie over what the school should and shouldn’t be doing, the older residents debated matters of age and gender. It was then that Vicki stumbled into the pub, before collapsing.

Meanwhile, still buzzing over what he’d done, Joel begged Tommy for help. Sharing how that he’d given Vicki ‘a little knock,’ Joel downplayed the attack, and demanded that Tommy hide him in the Slaters’ garage.

Ross, meanwhile, had just returned home to find the house empty. He rushed over to The Vic, where he found Vicki being cared to by paramedics. Priya was quick to suggest that Joel had been responsible, but Ross was having none of it, and launched into a defence of his son.

Over at the Slaters’, a guilt-ridden Tommy watched as Vicki was loaded into the back of an ambulance. Noticing Tommy’s upset, Zoe sat her brother down for a chat, and attempted to get to the bottom of what had happened – describing aunt Little Mo’s treatment at the hands of Trevor Morgan, as she tried to get through to her brother.

Tommy kept quiet, but Zoe’s words rang in his head.

The police arrested Joel

At the hospital, Ross desperately attempted to contact Joel. As Ross explained that Vicki was suffering from a broken arm and collapsed lung, he continued to insist to Zack and Sharon that Joel had nothing to do with the attack.

He had even trickier questions to answer when the police arrived, questioning him over his argument with Vicki and the bruises on his hand. Ross and the family were relieved to hear that Vicki would pull through, but questions still lingered as to which of the Marshall men had been responsible.

Rushing home, Ross retrieved Joel’s laptop. It didn’t take him long to discover what his son had done, finding Joel’s video of the attack on his computer. Figuring out he was probably with Tommy, Ross confronted Tommy at The Vic, demanding to know where Joel was hiding.

Joel was still hiding out in the Slaters’ garage when the police arrived. Slapping on the handcuffs, they dragged the toxic teenager out onto the Square, kicking and screaming, where Ross, Tommy and the rest of the Square watched as he was carted away.

Is this the last we’ll see of Joel?

Is Joel leaving EastEnders? Ross and Vicki are divided

The soap has not revealed whether Joel will return following tonight’s arrest. With spoilers revealing only that tensions arise between Vicki and Ross over Joel, the teenager’s fate hangs in the balance for now.

However, neither the soap nor star Max Murray have suggested that Joel leaves the soap this week – meaning that it’s likely his story still has a few twists left in store.

And, as Vicki regains consciousness in EastEnders tomorrow, talk soon turns to Joel. And tensions between her and Ross simmer as they discuss what happens next.

And, as the story continues on Wednesday, Vicki is shocked when the police inform her of a surprising development in her case.

Will she get justice for Joel’s attack? Or will Ross continue to protect his son?

Right now, Shakespears Sister singer Marcella Detroit (4/5) is leading the pack.

"Gargoyle’s clues have really got viewers talking, with bookies backing Marcella Detroit as the favourite. Fans were quick to spot a ‘Sally’ reference — particularly intriguing given that Marcella famously co-wrote Eric Clapton’s hit Lay Down Sally before her chart success with Shakespears Sister," Shane said.

Meanwhile, many other familiar women from Denise Welch (5/2), Kym Marsh (6/1), Ruby Wax (10/1) and Frankie Bridge (20/1) are also on the list.

Other TV favourites Joe Marler (11/4) and Joe Wicks (4/1) are also popular predictions.

“Speculation around Sloth has intensified after Sam Thompson became the bookies’ favourite. The Made in Chelsea star has added fuel to the fire by teasing fans online about The Masked Singer, prompting many to wonder if he’s hiding behind the mask," Shane said.

Can Of Worms could be a 'prime-time TV favourite'

Can Of Worms took the musical route by singing Be Our Guest from Beauty And The Beast. With them evidently being a great vocalist, the bookies' favourite so far is JLS star Marvin Humes (10/11).

Additionally, Ben Shepherd (2/1) and Roman Kemp (4/1) are popular choices. Meanwhile, Alan Titchmarsh (25/1) and Robbie Williams (50/1) are also on the list.

“Can of Worms has viewers split, with guesses narrowing in on either Marvin Humes or Ben Shephard. With Marvin currently leading the odds and Ben close behind, fans are divided over whether this mask is hiding a pop star or a prime-time TV favourite,” Shane continued.
