Nina and Kit both feared tonight (Wednesday, January 21) that Alice could be a catfish… Let’s just say that Roy’s about to get a huge Alice-shaped shock when next week arrives. Roy is adamant that Alice is the real deal (Credit: ITV) Nina’s catfish concerns for Roy in Coronation Street Corrie fans will know that Roy has been enjoying writing to a woman called Alice. She’s the mother of one of the prisoners Roy had been writing to as part of his prison penpal scheme. Bonding with Roy over the loss of her husband as well as having similar interests with him, Alice and Roy have sparked an exciting friendship. Article Continues Below Read all the latest Spoilers However, when Alice’s messages started having romantic undertones, Roy immediately realised that she had the wrong end of the stick. When Nina also kept suggesting this week that Roy had feelings for Alice, Roy was really guarded. However, when Carla told Roy that his late wife Hayley would want him to be happy, he decided to give Alice a chance. Tonight, Kit and Nina told Roy to be careful that Alice wasn’t a catfish. Roy then joked that he would need to ask for her ID to make sure she’s the real deal. He then assured Nina that Alice was real as she’d made some very interesting and genuine jokes about finding foreign currency in her pockets. Well, that’s that resolved then. Except… the scene then cut to a man holding ‘Alice’s’ phone and staring at the texts Roy had sent. Is Mal telling the truth? However, things don’t go quite to plan. Especially when he learns that Alice is already married… Not quite the story she told Roy, is it? With a mysterious newcomer called Mal sharing a few drinks with Bernie at the hotel and bonding over grief and loss, he then heads to Roy’s Rolls and reveals to Roy that he’s Alice’s husband. Awkward doesn’t cover it. Yes, the Alice Roy’s supposed to be going on a date with… It’s all very suss. But, is Mal telling the truth? Is Alice even real to begin with? Or, has Mal been catfishing Roy all along? So many possibilities, but one thing is for certain, Alice hasn’t been entirely honest with Roy.
