Coronation Street co-stars lead tributes to Debbie Rush's son as he dies aged 31

Coronation Street and Anna Windass actress Debbie Rush has announced the heartbreaking death of her son, William Rush, who has died aged 31.

Debbie shared the devastating news on Instagram, posting a photograph of William alongside a deeply emotional message in his memory.

In her tribute, the actress revealed that her son passed away just weeks before Christmas, making the loss all the more painful for her and her family.

Fans and fellow cast members have since flooded her post with messages of love and support during this incredibly difficult time.

Sharing a photo of Will in a Manchester City football shirt, Debbie sadly wrote: “Our beautiful baby boy, William, passed away on 17th December. As a family, our hearts are completely broken, and there are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss.

“Even in our darkest moment, William gave the most precious gift of all. Through being an organ donor, he has given hope and life to other families, thinking of others right to the very end. His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy.

“We kindly ask that our privacy be respected as we navigate this unimaginable grief. William will always be loved, always missed, and forever in our hearts.”

Debbie’s former Corrie co-stars rushed to send their love to the grieving mother.

Sally Metcalfe star Sally Dynevor responded by writing: “Oh Debbie I’m so shocked to hear this news. Sending you so much love. What a beautiful boy he was.”

Brooke Vincent also said: “Oh Debbie. I am so sorry for your loss!! I’m sending you all so much love.”

Catherine Tyldesley who plays Eva Price on the ITV soap also shared: “Oh love. I’m heartbroken for you all. I am so deeply sorry. I’m sending so much love and strength.”

Multi-talented Will Rush’s impressive career on screen

Beyond being a cherished son and a much-loved member of a well-known family, Will Rush had also built a name for himself on television.

He first caught the public’s attention in 2016 when he auditioned for The X Factor. He made it through to the Six Chair Challenge stage before exiting the competition.

Will was also familiar to drama fans thanks to his long-running role in Waterloo Road, where he played Josh Stevenson across 70 episodes between 2009 and 2013.

Following in his mum Debbie Rush’s footsteps, he later appeared on the cobbles too, making a guest appearance in Coronation Street in 2014 as a character named Ian.
