Before landing the role of Shona Platt’s half-sister, the actress actually auditioned for the role of Crystal. Viewers will remember Crystal as being the brief girlfriend of Ryan Connor. Olivia went for the role of Crystal before Jodie (Credit: ITV) Olivia Frances Brown auditioned for Coronation Street character Crystal before Jodie While the role of Crystal (the woman who Daisy Midgeley was known for imitating in the Ryan Connor catfishing storyline) ultimately went to actress Erin Austen, Olivia Frances Brown also went up for the role. Considering how much Olivia looks like Shona actress Julia Goulding, we almost thought she was born to play the role. But, she could’ve ended up playing Crystal instead of Jodie. Article Continues Below Read all the latest Spoilers Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Olivia revealed: “I actually first auditioned for Corrie about three or four years ago for a smaller part called Crystal. “I’m half-Scouse, so I was really crossing my fingers for it, and I was gutted when I didn’t get it. At the time, they said they’d keep me in mind for the future, but as an actor, you take that with a pinch of salt. When they got back in touch three years later remembering me for the role of Shona’s sister, I was made up. I couldn’t believe they remembered who I was! The full process felt really smooth from there.” Well, it turns out Corrie did keep her in mind after all! Viewers will see Jodie become obsessed with having Shona’s life, even wanting to steal Shona’s husband David from under her nose. A source teased to The Sun: “Jodie is going to do everything she can to seduce David. “She is fixated on Shona’s life and she wants it for herself. She wants to become her. “There’s definitely a bit of ‘single white female’ with this storyline.” Next week’s Coronation Street spoilers see Jodie cosying up to David and watching a movie while a drunk Shona is out of the room.
