Manpreet Sharma in Emmerdale

Emmerdale fans have been wondering why Manpreet Sharma doesn’t have any money, with one fan theory speculating that her spending addiction has returned.

Recent scenes in Emmerdale saw Manpreet struggle to find the money to pay off a blackmailer, despite being a doctor.

A new fan theory has predicted that she has returned to her big spending ways.

Manpreet is blackmailed in Emmerdale

It was recently revealed that Manpreet had been posting sexy photos to an Only Fans-style website.

She later received a message from someone, who said they knew her ‘dirty secret.’ The person then demanded £5k to keep quiet, before upping it to £10k.

Manpreet admitted she didn’t have enough money to pay off the blackmailer. Luckily for her, Joe Tate just happened to be in the right place at the right time and he offered to give Manpreet the money. Give, not lend.

Not sensing that this offer might be too good to be true, a desperate Manpreet accepted the money and her and Joe headed off to meet the blackmailer. Of course, it was in fact Joe pulling the strings all along, and the man they met had been sent by Joe’s dodgy doctor.

Fans soon questioned why Manpreet needed Joe’s money in the first place when she has a good career as a doctor.

Emmerdale fan theory predicts spending addiction for Manpreet

Previously, Manpreet suffered from a shopping addiction which left her thousands of pounds in debt. The addiction led to her car being repossessed and at one stage she stole money from former partner Rishi’s business account.

Though apparently over that now, a new fan theory has suggested that perhaps the addiction has returned.

On Reddit, one fan asked: “Why has she got no money? Instead of doing Only Fans she could do some private GP work for much more.”

A second fan agreed, writing: “Wouldn’t a doctor with 20-30 years experience, who shares a practice, have a fairly high salary?” With a third fan adding: “So Manpreet who’s been a GP for years and probably earns £100k a year, doesn’t have £10k saved up…”

A fourth fan came up with a plausible explanation and wrote: “She used to be a spending addict. Maybe that is happening again behind the scenes.”

Could this theory prove to be correct?
